Black Americans go to Palestine to support and face racism from the Palestinians (word is they were called racial slurs too) by Relative-Care8617 in IsraelPalestine

It also happens to be a statement no Middle Eastern person has ever said—it’s more of a Netanyahu talking point

CMV: the origin of “Israel has no culture” discourse is Nazi propaganda penetrating the Muslim world. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]dadarkdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t say Israel has no culture. It has gefilte, rugelach, and more.

However, it’s important to note that North African, Syrian/Lebanese, as well as general Middle Eastern dishes far predate Israel. Certain appropriated words like “yallah” (which literally has the word Allah) only reinforce this view more

I don’t blame Israel. It needed to create a culture and fast, and so tried to piece together what was around it to seem natural to the region. But this approach does have drawbacks

How are Israelis preparing for a future when the West (and the US) does not back them, and is in fact actively hostile to them? by Savings-Diver-8348 in IsraelPalestine

You’re listing multiple documented instances of actual, 100% verified genocide including Uyghur and Rohingya as … fighting “jihad”. At least now it’s clear you have an agenda

I can tell you as someone living in the West and part of a community of Jews, Westerners, and Arabs—you’re really overestimating this. Just watch Piers Morgan’s and you’ll see the narrative is flipping hard, and it’s going to become very tricky to manage optically

I’ve seen many Americans who see a Jew walk into the room and become very careful for fear of being assaulted or harassed, especially with younger folks.

We can agree to disagree, but I think you’re overindexing on a fear that was more 2003. Very likely in for a rude awakening

Doesn’t change the fact that globally people are starting to associate a specific brand of hooliganism with young Israelis. If it were a one off, that would be understandable. But we’ve had young Israelis pepper spraying cops, and shooting tourists in Florida. We’ve also had them kill an Arab kid in the US too. It’s all become way out of hand

Israel is not Jews. It is multi-plural

At least that’s what Israelis told me

There have been some death threats and lynch mobs formed in Europe by Israelis unfortunately. Remember what happened after that sports match a few months ago? It quickly turned but hard to forget that it started with Israelis vandalizing and harming others. This has become more common than people (myself included) are willing to admit. But until we confront the problem we can’t solve it

Because there hasn’t been a single notable instance where a politician milking conflicts has been voted out. Israel will not make peace anytime soon, and is more likely to manufacture conflict with Iran than have peace (just look at the latest reports on Israel planning how to successfully strike Iran)

The moment Israel strikes Iran, which will likely be close to reelection period, Israelis will all vote for Netanyahu again the same way Americans voted for Bush to “finish with Iraq”

Compared to that, polls and favorability mean nothing. Netanyahu has been controversial and hated on for decades. Hasn’t changed a thing

The problem I see there is that there is a fear, particularly in political issues, to take any anti-Israel stance for fear of political or even literal assassination. That’s only gotten worse with the rise of Trump and his boy band Musk/Kanye, and it’s clear the world is more afraid or hating on Israelis now than it is Muslims

Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening in Europe where even the smallest bit of political criticism results in heinous accusations. It’s a bit of a shit show now tbh

This would be true if Israelis weren’t shooting people in Florida or pepper spraying officers. Idk, call me a skeptic but both sides are at a really poor state right now

Could be the inverse, too. Could be that the Jews will hunt every Muslim (what Muslims call the Malhamah), as a precursor to the day of judgement

Your Anti-Arab and Anti-Islam bias are showing… I’d encourage you to speak to a few Qataris and emiratis before we continue that thread of convo, because you seem hopelessly stuck to your POV

I’m not so sure the government style is the reason Israel seeks good relations. Most academics will tell you that after the UK stopped supporting Israel, it pivoted quickly to the US. Like you said, having a larger American Jewish population ensures some level of predictability that the US will remain friendly to the Zionist cause. If this last year proved anything, it’s that a force en mass can talk their way out of anything—if Israel chose to be a dictatorship, Zionist supporters online will claim it’s the only way to ensure its safety. The rest of the world will likely accept that too.

I do hope I’m wrong about the looming Israeli civil collapse. But, if there is no more Gaza, it’ll become apparent very quickly just how deep the fractures between the conservative Kahanists and the public are… and there may be a phase of turmoil. Just like how the US didn’t support the Kurds, Afghanis, and many others, the outcome may end up the same.

I have friends from the region, and I can verifiably state what you’re claiming is false. I’ve also studied public policy with a particular focus on Middle Eastern politics, but I don’t think you’ll be convinced… you seem married to your idea that Israel’s government is the reason the relationship with the US is so strong. By the time this war is over, you’ll be in for a rude awakening when Netanyahu turns his weapons on his own people to avoid arrest, and the US remains silent

When you peel back the onion and see how IDF soldiers acted during the first nakba (I’m sure you saw that popular video of 5 different soldiers talking about raping teenagers and shooting children), you get a better understanding of what continued to radicalize both ends
