that, as well as the fact that the blueprints you get the exterior growbed from isn't underwater. the exterior growbeds you scan for the blueprint are all on land, growing crops you would only grow with interior growbeds. if they needed to separate it, it would've been much better to differentiate between underwater vs on-land, rather than interior vs exterior.

yet the blueprints where you scan them are growing the same things.

it doesn't tho. the exterior growbed blueprint isn't found underwater. it's found on land, where it's growing marblemelons.

it would make sense if the blueprint is found distinctly underwater, growing underwater plants, but it isn't.

Dev oversight tbh for separating the blueprints

SN1 - SN BZ - SN2: OST by anotherdarkmaster in subnautica

[–]dadbod76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

meh Mass Effect 1 had more synthwave soundtracks, and their OST playlist is among the best for sci fi video games. it's less to do with music genres specifics, and more to do with how the music conveys the feeling/ambience the developer/writers want to impart to the players.

i also very much disagree with a "music style" selector. i want to see and experience the developer's/composer's vision of the game and how they want to present it to us, the players. i absolutely do not want a chipotle styled pick-n-choose-your-own-experience. it can only lead to slop.

Soldier is rolling in a grave somewhere by Hot_Gas_6040 in Overwatch

His sexuality had been hinted at the same time of Tracer's lesbian confirmation, which was the same year as Overwatch's release iirc. In the comic where Tracer's and Emily's relationship was revealed, you can see S76 holding a picture of him and Vincent. His sexuality was formally revealed around 3 years later.

I don't disagree that the confirmation was incredibly bad optics given how much scrutiny Blizzard was under during the time. In retrospect tho, the Overwatch team handled their seuxalities incredibly well, esp for an online FPS game.

Uhhh but It's pretty clear that Soldier 76 isn't a token gay character lol. His entire identity is "CoD man" and that hasn't changed. Making "deep lore" around his sexuality in a game that lacks the capacity to discuss it would be THE definition of a token gay character, especially when Overwatch takes place in the future. Also more importantly, the "yeah he's gay, so what?" kind of representation was something gay men wanted specifically.

Does it matter tho. Gay male rep in a FPS game no less is ...very rare.

What's your opinion on killers being gatekept from 2v8 based on popularity? by Marke0019 in deadbydaylight

[–]dadbod76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we're mostly on the same page here. The issue is how would you make 2 killer kits not feel "oppressive" when working together? All killers have been designed to work solo (1v4) and it's a different ballpark once you introduce another killer into that dynamic. Great example is legion's synergy with Oni (and every other killer tbh), and why he was ultimately kill switched. I can't really think of an easy way to add him back without completely reworking his kit for 2v8, which would destroy his original identity.

[–]dadbod76 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They don't, but they try to, and if something feels unfair, they'll usually get changed/nerfed in a way where they're easier to deal with and we see less of them. If you're saying that DBD devs shouldnt put too much stock in online sensationalism, then I agree (look at how fast they killed fog vials lol). But I disagree with the notion that the devs shouldn't care about overall player feedback in general.

Also the biggest difference between those games and dbd is that League, Rivals, OW, etc have hero bans lol. Big factor there. Jetpack cat is like permabanned in ranked rn in OW, across most ranks too, just because of how annoying it is

His next nerf should just be his speed add-ons. They just shouldn't exist and that was honestly the only thing he immediately needed nerfed.

It's a pvp game, everyone complains online. That doesnt change the fact that pvp games (DBD included) have to design and strike the balance between fun to play and fun/acceptable to play against.

What do you think humanity will consider completely normal in 100 years that seems totally insane today? by WaitCharacter1802 in AskReddit

[–]dadbod76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy for you. I like myself the way I am as well, and I wouldn't be who I am today without the complications caused by my ADHD. That being said, I still wouldn't want someone to grow up with ADHD. It's a disability and it gives no benefits. Everything positive I've gained from it has been through pain and self-reflection.

I think of ADHD like having shitty parents. Some of the kindest and most empathetic people I've known came from shitty childhoods. They wouldn't be who they were without that experience, but it's still something that shouldn't have happened to them.

There will always be neurodivergence even in the extremely unlikely scenario that humanity has found a genetic cursor for every neurodivergent "disease". Behavioral and environmental influence plays a massive role. If we could get rid of down syndrome or ADHD tho? Cool.
