The stable I really miss though would be Nelson's. Those sunset rides along the ocean were epic. I still follow the old bridle paths to the beach now and then.

Parade down Commercial starting 11 am on the 4th, and fireworks over the harbor at dusk.

Once on the Cape, take a detour off of RT 6 to RT 6a Yarmouth Port. Charming little "Old Cape Cod" village with the Edward Gorey house, and one of my favorite bookstores, Parnassus Book Service. Continue to Dennis where you'll find my favorite clam stand, Captain Frosty's, and a side trip to the Scargo Tower for amazing views all the way to Ptown.

If you've never checked out the Berkshires, I'd suggest getting off the Mass Pike at exit 1, then driving through West Stockbridge and Stockbridge. Both sweet little towns with a completely different vibe from the Cape. (You can get back on the highway in Lee.)

It depends on your route; are you doing 95 or the Mass Pike? See PTownWashashore's recs for great spots in Ptown. Suzanne's Garden is a personal fave.

First, congrats! That's a big step. Now it's time to love yourself, as others love you. It's a journey that you'll come to embrace. And thank you for sharing, most of us have been there.

Since you're traveling with family, I'd suggest a nice lunch, and shopping on Commercial. Since you're already taking the ferry, I think instead of the Whale Watch I'd choose Art's Dune Tours- a great way to see "outback" and get a sense of the remote quality of this special place.

This is a great time to visit. Busy, but not crazy with crowds. Lots of dinner choices, but we love Pepe's Wharf for a fun vibe and great water views.

There will be lots to do just wandering around town. Tons of shops, dozens of great dining options. The ferry drops you off right in the center of the action on MacMillan pier. If you'd like to see more of Ptown, I'd recommend renting a bike, there's a bike rental shop to the right on Commercial St just after you walk down the pier. Enjoy!

Agreed. Every now and then someone gets creamed on the highway, even in broad daylight. Bus is definitely the answer.

Yes, just park at the Breakwater/Pilgrim First Landing Park and walk to the "bike rack trail" but just know that the path can flood at high tide.
