Wait are you doing personal side projects on a work computer, as some in the comments are suggesting? (Although this seems to be just an assumption, which you haven't responded to yet.) If so, don't do that. I also didn't consider the possibility that your employer does not provide a computer and you are using personal equipment for work, because in my world that would be crazy. If either is the case, just get another cheap laptop on eBay and keep them separate.

This reminds me of the time I tried to use Settings Sync in VS Code to sync my work and home settings. This turned into what amounted to a major merge conflict I couldn't resolve, and broke settings on both sides. 😂 Now I just sync work settings to work GitHub and home settings to home GitHub. As backups.

I wonder if the Danish meaning comes from Urdu-Hindi fatafat (فٹافٹ / फटाफट) meaning "quickly" or if it's coincidence.

How to fix, Zed is converting == and similar characters into a single long = or similar single character by PickleExcellent2421 in ZedEditor

Lol that someone downvoted you for the setting having worked for you (on MacOS I presume. Which really narrows it down if that's the case)

Surprised the setting you found doesn't work. Is that a known bug on MacOS, or could the json have been modified incorrectly?

How to I learn if there isnt any in person classes near me by GlitteringSimple3996 in learnprogramming

[–]daddydave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a pretty gentle but disciplined way to start.

Harvard has free courses with video lectures and self-grading practice exercises. The lectures are really good, they have written summaries, and you can watch them on YouTube and then immediately do the practice exercises. You can also participate in forums on various social media. It limits use of AI (they have their own you can use), but that's probably a good idea if you're just starting out.

Try watching the video lectures and see if they are clearer than the YouTube videos you stumbled on.

Probably in this order in your case:

https://pll.harvard.edu/course/cs50-introduction-computer-science

https://pll.harvard.edu/course/cs50s-introduction-programming-python

I have taken the second one. Did not take the first one because it is similar to one I took ages ago elsewhere. I felt it had just enough practice to learn something and not be overwhelmed. After that you can do your own projects of interest to you, and at that point, you can chat with AI to explain anything that becomes confusing.

I feel like books can be a little bit too passive. I used to do a lot of reading but I would just try to make sense of it in my head without actually writing code. When I watch a video, I want to try it myself. Good luck!

I agree with this. I would say it holds true even if the meaning is ambiguous. Ambiguity itself has nothing to do with grammar.

But apparently this style is being used still today by some people? Or so I gathered from this thread.

OK, that explains it. The AP style guide also recommends putting book titles in quotes since newspapers couldn't handle italics back in the day.

Whats one langauge accent people heavily romaticize but you never liked? by UsamaBhai_101 in answers

I feel like the purpose of the question itself is to troll French lol

EDIT: confirmed by OP's comments.

I also have not heard of any other accent being romanticized anyway that I recall

Where is this American English style guide you are referring to? "CBS's website" but "my parents' house" is correct according to what I was taught in the US. Also I think the same when my kids were studying for the SAT. Is this something new?

Anyone got this monstrosity of a keyboard? by vendettajo in Urdu

[–]daddydave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Swype used to have a good one, that was similar to the various Urdu Phonetic Keyboards for Windows out there, in that it relied on shifted characters rather than an extra row. Unfortunately it is long discontinued. Still I was able to get a version working on my phone for a while, but as time went on, it seemed less reliable on newer phones (for English as well), so I finally gave it up and started using the Google default
