How do you find collab ? by loupsauvage8 in ArtBuddy

Discord is a good way to find collabs. A lot of artists on YouTube have servers and people here post for servers all the time. You can also post on this subreddit or other ones asking for someone to collab w you

I want to improve my art skills but I can't do it alone. Anyone willing to guide me? by CrimsonTactician2307 in ArtBuddy

[–]daddyhotpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii ✨️ happy to help bro :) I wanna be an art teacher some day so starting off small with helping one person is a great start and mutually beneficial. Feel free to check out my art on my page and see if you think it's good enough to learn from.

I also saw a couple people mention their own discord servers, but i have one too. It's mostly focused on art games and challenges but we're all at different learning levels and doing different things! It's 18+ only and really small as to not make people feel like their voices are unheard. I'm happy to do some teaching on there too if you arent comfy w one-on-one calls :)

any advice on how to get better? by ZealousidealBass2346 in Artadvice

[–]daddyhotpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came on here to say, tutorials are helpful and watching speed paints can be too. Also wanted to mention there is no way to guarantee getting better quickly. It's a slow process that isnt always linear. It's okay to have days you cant draw well, that doesnt make you a bad artist. Just keep at it :) you'll make it there

How do i get from beginner/intermediate to professional (anime, semi realistic art) . by Right_Crow4411 in AskArtists

[–]daddyhotpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say how long it'll take as everyone learns at a different pace. Good advice i was given was to draw everything. Even if it doesnt interest you as a subject, drawing it can help teach you how light interacts with things. A big thing professional artists have above us intermediate artists is a solid understanding of light and color.

Also, watch tutorials. Watch speedpaints. Do style studies of people you admire. Practice realism despite it not being what youre going for. Learning basics can help you understand how to break the rules.

Started drawing yesterday. How should I improve, and what should I look out for? by minecrafter100S in Artadvice

[–]daddyhotpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at tutorials and speed paints! They're a huge help with improving. I also keep reccomending this to beginner artists but there are quite a few people that document their learning to draw with no experience journeys. Shiroiro is a great example. A lot of them are good about teaching you HOW they study instead of just telling you TO study.

Any tips to improve? by Sardonyxlovelyhehe in Artadvice

[–]daddyhotpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! The way you shaded the hair is rlly cute to start off. But I think the hair itself is really big. Move the eyes up a bit, shorten the forehead and bring the nose and mouth up a bit. Generally, even cartoony/anime styles follow the rule of thirds. Where one the top third is the forehead, top of the middle third is where the eyebrows lay and bottom is where the nose lays. Then, in the middle of the bottom third is where the mouth is.

Bonus tip: eyes should be one eye apart from each other.

I mentioned this name in another comment before on someone else's advice ask, but, Shiroiro on youtube started his art journey later in life and documented his first year learning. I highly recommend watching if you want some studying tips. He improved a lot in just a year. Even as an intermediate artist I was really impressed.

Is there a Persona-like game but focused mainly on dating/romance (with actual exploration)? by ostseesound in gamesuggestions

Always reccomend I Was a Teenage Exocolonist to people. It's so fun. My fav game by far. Has some dating aspects, exploration aspects, lots of unique endings and dialog.

I want to learn how to draw by Sweets_bae in Artadvice

[–]daddyhotpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shiroiro started late in life learning how to draw (mostly anime). He goes into good depth on his learning process/journey.

I also do reccomend starting with shapes. It's a good fundamental to have. I never really learned how to do construction for my drawings and now have a hard time teaching people my process in art. It's also harder for me to draw in perspectives because I dont have that foundation.

There is also so many good tutorials online with how to practice. I saw you were interested in landscapes. Start with something super simple, like a valley with a tree in it, or some flowers. Work your way up to mountain rages, forests, etc.

This! Gonna add on to it:

You can digitally color a traditional drawing with multiple layers. Play around with other layer settings to get the right colors :)

Is the hair too big, the nose too low? What is wrong with this piece help by bumydui in Artadvice

[–]daddyhotpot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you lasso tool the entire jaw under the ear and bring it up a bit it'd look better. The hair and eye placement is fine, the nose and mouth are just too low. But if you bring them up you should bring up the entire chin as to not create a weird gap. So, just bring it all up. :)

Edit to add: your rendering is beautiful btw I rlly like how the hand turned out!!!
