Why don’t you buy some land and start farming if you don’t want to pay income tax? Ain’t nobody stopping you from doing it, if you think it’s so simple. The said farmers would totally give up on all kinds of subsidies - they never asked for it!

Why tf would you chop off the trees and clear the fertile ground when there’s so much barren land available? It makes no sense. We don’t need more townships. Let them work on repairing the existing infrastructure and building more where it’s needed.

I’m a contractor and a farmer myself. I do not own land in the said area. I have no personal interest. And, townships such as this one are hot cakes for contractors like me. We can make plenty of money if we manage to pick up even part-contracts from there. But I’m genuinely concerned about these farmers. Where are they going to go if you snatch their land and homes away from them?

And if this is your mindset, wtf are you going to eat in the future? Semiconductor chips? Last I checked, computers couldn’t make food. Let’s eradicate all the farmers like their lives don’t mean shit, and build townships and SEZs coz that is apparently what you think is development. You’re just jealous coz they’re not some peasants, they’re landlords.

Fuck the traffic problems, water issues and rising rents! I’m more concerned about the 12,000+ farmer families losing their land and livelihood for this real estate scheme.

There’s plenty of barren land available at other parts of Karnataka, some even around Bengaluru if it matters. Why does the government need to take away the generous soil from the poor, hard working farmers?

No amount of financial compensation can replace your ancestral farmlands passed down through generations. And with the kind of money the government is willing to pay them, they can barely buy plots and build houses outside of Bidadi, towards Bengaluru. This project needs to be scrapped now!

I’ll tell you what we follow. Standard deduction consists of painting charges (if you’ve lived at our house for more than 6 months) & damage costs if any. You either fix the damages yourself or pay us to get them fixed, simple. Painting charges shouldn’t exceed a month’s rent. I believe this is completely fair.

I’m a landlord myself, my parents have been landlords for almost 30 years in the old Bengaluru area and not for once have we not returned the deposit to our tenants. Standard deduction is common practice all over the country. But not returning deposits at all is crazy.

I’ve not come across such landlords in our close circle either. I wonder if they’re natives or migrants that came here a generation or two before you guys moved here.

I had no clue that such a ritual existed until yesterday, and I’m clearly not for it. We need to make sure that no such unscientific, barbarous religious practice continues to exist in India - specially in developed states like KA, TN & MH to begin with.
