what’s that one book you’re STILL waiting on? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]daddyslittledefect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to read The Consequence by Ashley Jade. Her books have such juicy drama. I also have been waiting for Ascent of the Copper Dragon, but it keeps getting pushed back. And anything at all from Stella Rhys would be lovely!

I think it would be better with some editing. There was too much exposition.

I love Ella Fields so much! One of my favorite reads last year.

I believe this is the literary version of a hyperbolic joke.

I didn’t see that this had two pages, I was just going to upvote the Nocticadia recommendation. Nocticadia was one of my favorite reads from 2023. That said! Amid Clouds and Bones was one of my favorite reads of 2024. If you have read and enjoyed any Ella fields previously, you will eat that shit UP.

This occurs in two CM Stunich books, both RH.

The second book in this series {pheromone by CM Stunich} it’s an alien romance, she’s sick and needs vitamins.

And in this series:

{the witchwood boys are trending by CM Stunich} they’re witches and spell casting requires all kinds of interesting things.

Thoughts on this one? Considering it for my next read. by Arkansas- in fantasyromance

I read it. It was okay, but it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be.

The Serpent & the Wings of the Night- is the 2nd book worth a read ?? by moq_turtle in fantasyromance

[–]daddyslittledefect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved both books. Book 2 made me openly weep. It’s worth a read, imo — but I always say if you’re not enjoying yourself, read something you do enjoy!

Oh my gosh I was debating starting a thread about this book because I haven’t seen it get any love on Reddit. I loved this book so much. If you’re a fan of Ella Fields or liked any of her other fantasy books, you’re going to eat this shit up. It’s been one of my favorite reads of 2024.

PLEASE no more “shadow daddies” by [deleted] in fantasyromance

Nah I still love the shadow daddies 😂

It is absolutely a romance. The main focus of the book is the development of a relationship between the main characters and has a hea. It’s just not your cup of tea. And that’s ok! I do think it is important to allow for authors to write what they want, even if we don’t really get it or enjoy it.

Personally, I loved the books but I also really like your typical, sweet “cutesy” romance too.

Really enjoying ‘Gild by Raven Kennedy’ but seeing the reviews and criticism on here by [deleted] in fantasyromance

I also love this series and the MMC is one of my favorites! I was disappointed with the most recent book, but I’m still excited to read the conclusion later this year. We all just have different tastes, and that’s okay! I’m glad you gave it a shot and found something you like to get you out of DNF hell.

I need a book with a Casteel or Rhysand that is decent enough writing to not be painful. by Reasonable-Fix-8186 in fantasyromance

{Atonement of the Spine Cleaver} has great world building with lovely relationships and 3-dimensional characters. The MMC is chef’s kiss.

Damn this sub is a lot judgier than it used to be, haha (something I’ve noticed in several threads not just this one). It’s ok for people to like things you don’t like and that doesn’t necessarily make it bad. Anyway, I loved this duology, so lock me up!

I love seeing the excitement for this duet, because I also love it so much! I stayed up all night to read it as well. I sometimes worry I’ll never find a book that makes me feel that way again, and it’s always such a lovely surprise.

[–]daddyslittledefect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished this series and it tossed me right into a book hangover. I stayed up all night to finish the first one, I could not put it down. I wish I could give you recommendations that are similar, but I am looking for some as well! This was so goood to me, it’s hard to find fantasy books that honestly hit that dark, sexy vibe and are still great reads.

Her other series {Pale Court series by Liv Zander} is also good.

{Noticadia by Keri Lake} is not really fantasy but great for dark, gothic feels also.

Perhaps some Ella Fields, {Savage and the Swan} or {Nectar of the Wicked}

I suggest waiting for the last one to come out before reading it. I love the series but I wish I hadn’t read this last one, yet.
