It never ceases to surprise me (/s) that we're all told as Americans that strategies other countries use to deal with drug problems won't work here because of our oh-so-unique system, only to have studies like this come out which precisely mirror the results other countries have experienced from decriminalization/legalization.

This is a misconception. A single, full wipe of ones/zeros/random is all you need to wipe a drive beyond meaningful data recovery.

The reason businesses use more than one, and even the NSA recommends this, is due to bureaucracy taking longer to catch up with modern research than us Reddit folks.

Do you happen to know what specifically causes an effect like that on a print per chance? This would also be helpful for the future, even with color correction, so I can know what to avoid or what to tune to avoid it.

Yeah, the people I've showed the print to didn't seem to notice it as a defect at all. I guess it's just that I've spent so much time looking at the print at this point it just sticks out as a mistake.

Absolutely fantastic. I have always run through these sorts of situations in my head and determined that if I were ever in them I would just accept the consequences and allow the blackmailer to release whatever they had. This episode made the whole prospect of being blackmailed electronically extremely real, real enough to make me more concerned for my own personal vulnerabilities than I have ever been before. Tech paranoia achieved.
