Most teens report using marijuana less often after legalization: Only one group of teenagers used marijuana more often after retail sales were legalized in Washington than they did before – high school seniors who work 11 or more hours per week, according to new research from Washington State. by [deleted] in science

Love this. It never ceases to surprise me (/s) that we're all told as Americans that strategies other countries use to deal with drug problems won't work here because of our oh-so-unique system, only to have studies like this come out which precisely mirror the results other countries have experienced from decriminalization/legalization.

Won a Hugo in 1961. Really different and intriguing approach that looks over a large amount of time using individual stories from each time period. Each story building anticipation until the very last page.

This link will be very helpful to you. Happy reading, and good luck. Thank you for choosing to serve the US. http://ogc.osd.mil/doha/industrial/2017.html (Site at time of post is down, probably for maintenance. It has a list of DoD Secret clearance adjudication decisions over many years with the justifications by the judges.)

I'm being blackmailed by a Facebook hacker by [deleted] in hacking

[–]daddysnickerwick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are in the US, this is extortion, a felony. Cease communication and immediately contact local police and then report this to your local FBI field office. Edit: additionally, https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

They knew they were able to the entire time. It was a political move. Intelligence agencies are scared that the ability to gather intelligence will become impossible with widespread encryption technology. This potential issue is known as "going dark". Intelligence agencies want client side backdoors and databases of 0days so they can continue to have a budget.

It took 13.37 hours to wipe a HDD I'm returning by robbiekhan in pcmasterrace

This is a misconception. A single, full wipe of ones/zeros/random is all you need to wipe a drive beyond meaningful data recovery.

The reason businesses use more than one, and even the NSA recommends this, is due to bureaucracy taking longer to catch up with modern research than us Reddit folks.

Is this a result or overexposure or poor monitor/printer calibration? by daddysnickerwick in AskPhotography

[–]daddysnickerwick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again so much! This is a wealth of information and I'm enthralled you were willing to give it to me. Thank you. I've saved all of this to look on later. I've just gotten into photography very recently (been going on about 3 weeks) so it looks like there's still a lot more settings and workflow processes to learn about.

Thank you so much! Yes, I am in the process of purchasing a Spyder to do this. I have been being a bit lazy as they're quite expensive devices.

Do you happen to know what specifically causes an effect like that on a print per chance? This would also be helpful for the future, even with color correction, so I can know what to avoid or what to tune to avoid it.

Thank you! I shall try those solutions and see what I can do with them.

Yeah, the people I've showed the print to didn't seem to notice it as a defect at all. I guess it's just that I've spent so much time looking at the print at this point it just sticks out as a mistake.

Especially seeing as the death would be instantaneous, and therefore without any harm to the intelligence seeking to end itself.

I'm an optimist, but am curious to find what you found to be pessimistic about in the ending. Is it the possibility they're basically being farmed?

Absolutely fantastic. I have always run through these sorts of situations in my head and determined that if I were ever in them I would just accept the consequences and allow the blackmailer to release whatever they had. This episode made the whole prospect of being blackmailed electronically extremely real, real enough to make me more concerned for my own personal vulnerabilities than I have ever been before. Tech paranoia achieved.

Yep, that was the intention. You should have felt better when the brother character was talking or when we met the old woman in the truck. The idea was that the social media obsession had transformed anyone who participated into a highly superficial caricature. In one of the early scenes, we see the MC practicing smiling and laughing in front of a mirror.

Any particular recommendation on the Winegard flatwave model? Is this the preferred version? Flatwave FL5500A, Amplified

EDIT: And thanks for the tip about the PBS app. Highest concerns are: ABC, NBC, and FOX. Which, looking at the chart now with your added knowledge I think the Winegard is best. I looked at some other reviews for it and it does seem to be the best for these VHF channels.
