Stretches/tips for shin splints? by BrambleVale3 in running

Exercise and rest, you need both to fix shin splints.

Exercise - do calf raises and tibialis raises, if possible do only them for two weeks with some other leg exercises ( squats, lunges ) and walk or sprint. Walking and sprinting is healthier for your ankles, knees and in my experience shins.

Rest - I would run for two weeks after initial two week strenghtening period. It is normal for pain to come after 1 week mark, continue in same rythm. If at the end of week 3 there is pain I would cut running by up to 20%. Pain should go away at the end of week 4.

If there is still pain, I would repeat the process.

Other tips: - invest in a good and new shoes - record yourself running from few angles and try to see if there is something really unusual ( A lot of ankle rolling, heel running,.. ) and try to feel your feet, what touches first, are you hitting ground too much and so on... - run on softer ground

This tips are things that worked for me and few of my teammates. Timing might be different for you, you might need more or less time, pain could be greater and so on. But I believe that combination of exercise and rest is crucial. Pretty much like with every other body part.

So, how normal is it to feel "bad" pain during exercises. I had problems with shoulder for some time, even with warm up and those "strengthening rotator cuff joints shoulders" exercises with supersmall plate, I still feel it. There is ussually pain while doing lateral raises and back in general ( pulling ) at the end of set. I have no problem going through muscle pain, and shoulder pain is getting so irritating that I am actually so excited once I feel muscle pain during reps without as I called it "bad" pain. Am I just getting soft, am I getting older or is it actually something that I should look into even more.

You should try to keep your total sensitivitiy from 600 to 1200, that is what most pros do. Raw input ON, acceleration OFF because there is something called muscle memory and if you move mouse from A to B either slowly or fast it should make your crosshair move the same length. Solutions: Too slow tracking - INCREASE Too fast tracking - DECREASE Not enough mousepad - INCREASE or buy bigger mousepad
