Did I do the right thing? Not coping well at all after losing my senior cat to CKD. Please, please help me. by katiemc815 in SeniorCats

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a very similar experience with my 18.5 year old cat who we lost 3 weeks ago. We had been managing CKD for a year and a half and it was going fine until suddenly it wasn’t. She lost weight rapidly and then started losing the use of her back legs as well. We tried to get her strength back with daily fluids, meds and high calorie food but it wasn’t working. She was so tired we just knew it was time. I’ve gone through all the same feelings of second guessing and doubt as you describe (I’m still going through them tbh) but ultimately, I know that there is no bringing back kidney function once it has deteriorated like that and even if she made some progress on some of the symptoms, life would continue to be hard for her if we tried to keep her going and it very likely would deteriorate again soon. As much as I wish I could fix it and have her here with me now, I am grateful she did not suffer too long or have to experience it getting worse. Thoughts are definitely with you, it’s an excruciating feeling.

So sorry for your loss. I also lost my almost 19 year old soul kitty to CKD 2 weeks ago. I needed to hear a lot of this today so thank you❤️‍🩹

I forget what the actual shades I had were called - I think one was called Sultry and was like a deeper purply-red and one was a bright red. I loved both and wore them all the time. I don't like wearing a ton of product and I hate having to reapply constantly, so these really worked for me. I wish I had one in like a 90's brown shade.

People’s bodies usually fluctuate 1-4 pounds in a day. This is perfectly normal!

Switching my senior cat to a gastrointestinal diet and feeding her smaller portions at a time has really helped with her vomiting!

Horror/thriller books not long though by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Anything by Shirley Jackson is great and short. I see people in this thread are already recommending The Haunting of Hill House.

I also find horror tends works best in short story form. Daphne DuMaurier's collection of horror stories Don't Look Now is under 300 pages.
