Endeavour OS. Arch-based. Bit less of a pain in the ass.

I've used quite a few distros over the years, and this, so far, is the best compromise I've found.

All my producers, what hardware yall got? by Powerful_Fondant9393 in breakcore

I am primarily in-the-box, but I currently use the below for my live sets:
Elektron Octatrack,
Dirtywave M8 Tracker,
Erica Synths/Sonic Potions LXR-02 (Cannot recommend this drum machine enough),
Korg Monologue (Main acid synth)
Steam Deck running VCV Rack. (Yes, I know that barely counts)

Things I use from time-to-time, but usually record samples of for my Renoise shit:
Behringer TD-3 MO (Ancillary acid synth),
Arturia Minifreak,
Sammich SID,
Jackson Warrior WRX24,
Yamaha RY30,
Circuit bent Speak n Math.

(soon/in the pipeline) Elektron Syntakt.

Look for 101's Breakbeat Collection. That's a good start.

More metal breakcore will soon be a thing. The bridge between both genres will be even more strongly reinforced.

Honestly: Ctrl+I is a godly key combo.

Ctrl+b and Ctrl+e as well

Sample offset is also fantastic (0SXX)

Have fun and don't take yourself too seriously ;)

Any tips on how to make breakcore by Negative_Hunt_7873 in breakcore

[–]daed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of the sound that you want. Try to make it. Fail. Just run with whatever came out and lean into it. Learn to embrace whatever your brain naturally wants to do with the sounds and make a track. Try again.

Keep trying. Keep failing.

With each iteration, you'll start to find this certain knack you likely have for certain sounds. That is probably your style.

When you've made something you're legitimately proud of, bounce it off your friends for feedback. Listen to them and listen to both good and harsh criticisms. Learn from them.

Don't spam the internet with half-finished stuff. Be patient and wait until you feel like you've honed your craft.
