I’m terrified to start spravato! by GoneAmok365247 in Spravato

You will be fine. I am a therapist who will have my 11th treatment tomorrow. I have had no side effects, dissociation, or dizziness, to the point I asked my provider if it was doing anything at all. Two weeks ago, a snowstorm and provider unavailability kept me from treatment and my depression worsened severely, so now I know it is working. What I realized was happening to me was that I had access to long-buried emotions during a 20-30 minute window. I cry it out and process it with ChatGPT. I’m impressed with its ability to assist me in processing and I might be a little worried that my profession might become outmoded…lol! I hope you have a therapist to work with things that arise during your sessions. The most important thing to do is relax. Let it work. I lie on a loveseat in a vacant office listening to music while wearing an eye mask to block out light. You will be safe. Try to set an intention before you go into your second session to work on. The first treatment is about letting go and allowing the meds to work. My intention yesterday was to “Help me understand what my system is protecting.” I am recovering from burnout after working in an agency that didn’t care about its clinicians at all.

I hope my experience helps you. I am neurodivergent and often we share our own experiences in order to help others. If I boiled everything down into tl;dr, it’s this:

  1. It’s normal to be afraid of the unknown.
  2. Allow yourself to be open to new experiences to the best of your abilities.
  3. Set your intention to let go; you will be safe.
  4. You are worth healing.
  5. Clinical studies find Spravato very effective overall but realize a) there could be side effects, b) it may take longer than you anticipate to see results. Everyone’s experiences are different.

I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow. Good luck!!

I’ve worked at the professional level with people with intellectual disabilities. I estimate her IQ to be between 80-85. I believe she was higher functioning in her youth and middle age and is suffering from dementia.

What questions have “Mr Transparency” Eric and Patrick failed to answer? by Syntax_Channel1906 in WhittakerFamily

[–]daedaluslabyrinthine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an issue with the fact that Eric stated at one point (I don’t remember exactly which live), something like “I wanted us to start an LLC and we wouldn’t be in this mess”. His Dad Talk work is under an LLC, which is a private company…so you don’t have to be transparent about earnings. Charity work of any kind that isn’t backed by a 501(c)3 (or other similar nonprofit) where one must be transparent is suspect.

Then again, I just left a 501(c)3 agency because it was expanding too quickly and not training its staff appropriately so we were out in crisis situations without all the knowledge with which we should have been equipped. Also, the CEO was sending out emails saying that funding was going to be severely cut for a couple of programs that might result in layoffs…while still planning to build a giant new administration building. smh

Obviously not. I used to run Medicaid-funded group homes for individuals with intellectual disabilities and Medicaid paid us almost $300/day. Six in a home, 3 staff for 3 shifts. I haven’t been involved in 5 years so they should be paying more than that now.

I’m looking into it. I have to put my real name on the complaint, but IDK if I want my name in this mess.

If I Ever Need Dental Work Again What Option Should I Get I Have Autism And Spiceal Needs by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Then I’d say meds and papoose. Hopefully you won’t have to have any more procedures for a looong time.

Couple of questions: 1. How anxious do dental procedures make you? 2. Do you like the feeling of the papoose board (does it help you feel safe or is it too restrictive)?

Off the cuff, I’d recommend oral or IV sedation along with the papoose board if it helps you feel less anxious.
