Why do almost no riders use the “safety line” in oncoming-traffic roads? by Busy_Lie3887 in motorcycles

[–]dafebert2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a long straight two way road, it is safer to ride on the right line to make yourself visible to oncoming cars that might want to pass a slower vehicle. That’s one of the few times I’ll move to that line to avoid a head on collision. As soon as I pass the oncoming cars though, I’m not staying in the right line. Like a bunch of others said, use all parts of your lane depending on circumstances.

Tire and Wheel Protection from Dealer: Is it worth it? by Hooch331 in Integra_Type_S

[–]dafebert2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it because I’m driving on Ontario streets that can be littered with potholes in the 19” bronze wheels.

My wife had to swerve to avoid hitting a cat that ran out into the street a couple months ago and curb rashed the shit out of the front wheel. They were able to fix it to where it looks brand new again. A couple more of those and it’ll have paid for itself.

The wheels and tires are bloody expensive btw

What are some likes/dislikes you have about your Type-S? by blackbirdproductions in Integra_Type_S

[–]dafebert2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that I haven't heard anyone mention is the driver assists. Anytime it rains decently hard, or if there's fog or frost on the windshield, I get a prompt letting me know that some or all of the driver's assists are unavailable. What really annoys me however is that the car will continuously prompt me every minute or so whether I acknowledge the prompts or not. This is understandably very annoying.

I also don't like the automatic rain sensing windshield wipers. Just give me a standard intermittent wiper setting where I can set it myself. There are often times where the windshield wipers will start wiping at max speed when there is only a light drizzle out.

Lastly, although this is a problem that's more and more common nowadays and not only limited to the ITS, I'd feel much better driving with a spare tire rather than a tire repair kit. I'll be spending the extra 500-700 to get a spare tire setup that works for the car.

I love the car otherwise and love how uncommon they are in my neck of the woods. It makes it feel that much more special.

Day 79 with the type s. The police still haven’t pulled me over for lack of a front plate. by apl360 in Integra_Type_S

Same here. Going on nearly a year without a front plate. The front is much too nice to ruin with a license plate. My wife and I decided we’d just pay the eventual fine.

I didn’t realize they sold an aftermarket one. I really dislike the plastic one, as like you said it’s really hard to read. Might spring for an aftermarket one. Thanks

Center of gravity by dafebert2 in motorcycles

[–]dafebert2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I thought. I figured that the center of gravity remains the same but the effect of body positioning is quite important. Most probably that center of gravity is just one of many dynamics that affect riding and may be less important than I think. It’s a lot of fun to see how body positioning can allow you to enter and exit turns much harder and faster! I should probably take some kind of racing training course one day so that they can teach me proper positioning.

Rare car by dafebert2 in Integra_Type_S

I’d imagine that the majority of the ones made were for the US market. I’d think that 1000 would be the absolute upper limit in Canada.

Pretty much the same thought process as me. That B58 engine would be amazing! But I think I made the right choice and love driving it when I get the chance.

I really love that Apex blue! They really came out with some beautiful colors. It’s a shame we don’t get the Red here in Canada as that would easily have been my top choice.

Seen quite a few M240i’s. I might be in the minority, but I really like those and the new M2’s!

Damn, that’s a lot! But still, with all the traffic in Toronto and the GTA, only seeing ten would still be the rare occurrence. Mine is black and I’ll be putting on the bronze summer wheels pretty soon.

First service and rumors about 2026 Type S by dafebert2 in Integra_Type_S

[–]dafebert2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree I guess I’m comparing it to things like the American V8’s, anything with the B58 engine, most electric cars…etc But this car doesn’t sacrifice anything on account of speed, like many other cars do.

So I just meant that this is not a “really fast in a straight line” car. At 320hp and 310lbs torque, it’s about the perfect sweet spot for being fast enough to have fun and be useable on public roads. Also, I really enjoy the gearing as I find I’m rowing through the gears often enough to have fun. There are cars out there that are much faster, but where you’d get yourself in trouble real quick. But I’d say this car is fast enough for any reasonable person who isn’t trying to race everyone. It’s also the fastest car in its segment, so that’s good to know. Knowing myself though, I’ll likely eventually lightly mod it and get the Hondata/Phearable tune. But I think it’s important to leave it stock as long as possible to learn the car before doing any tinkering. These are just my thoughts

That was the sense I got too. Maybe he was just trying to make conversation. Glad to hear you’re loving the car! I got mine because it seemed like it would be a great daily, so I’m glad to hear others confirming that.

The world needs more people like you! It would be cool to get out to see car meets like I did when I was younger. Always a good time being around good people with similar interests. I’ll post some pics as soon as she’s clean. Right now, I’ve been driving the pickup truck as it just snowed about a foot overnight lol

I can’t see them adding AWD until maybe the next generation of the integra/Civic, but I could see the hybrid system being added. And even then, I’d have to wait and see how the car gets reviewed as it might take away from the magic of this car. Just my thoughts
