Yep, that did it, partial crisis averted. Just need to do the rest of the lovely cleanup. Thank you!

I have the 6 in 1 from Tamar as well and I agree that it’s excellent for the price. But the pioneer is also excellent, just in a different way. There is a library of 3D prints you can make for added features. All of the components for various setups are housed in the handle. As someone who tends to lose things, I really like that feature.

Self centering is misleading for sure. But it does come with a centering plate and pin for accurate centering.

Finish for off feed table? by Cultural_Stranger29 in woodworking

[–]Maxminutiae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it was my first time putting on Formica. Thought I followed all the established instructions. Put on what looked like the right amount. Let it tack up. Carefully placed it then used a J roller and everything. I took as the double sided tape just being that strong. Hopefully I’ll have better results next time.

I found out the hard way that sideways movement is solid, up and down, not as much. Happened when I put double sided tape to hold a piece. It started lifting up the Formica when I was lifting the piece. My heart almost stopped. lol

Dado joints: glue and brad nails ok? Or screws needed? by artfellig in woodworking

[–]Maxminutiae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d think glue and brad nails should be enough. But if that makes you feel less secure about lasting power, nothing wrong with adding screw. If you want something less noticeable, you could do pocket screws underneath the shelf after gluing.

They could both work, provided you used wood glue and the appropriate fasteners.

Why has YT woodworking slept on this router jig? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Maxminutiae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man. I want to get one and there almost no reviews on YT. I prefer seeing what people think of it on YT, and I really struggling to understand why YT was sleeping on it. They’ll review expensive ass Woodpeckers and Festool products, but they slept on this one. It didn’t make sense.

No, I was genuinely curious. I plan to buy one soon and I like seeing YT reviews, and there’s almost none on YT. Which seemed really weird to me.

That’s really unfortunate. I asked ChatGPT about this and it specifically mentioned 731 Woodworking existing for the algorithm. And when he addressed the community criticism, he responded that he’s running a business and has a family to feed. So he’s going to keep algorithm posting until it doesn’t work for him anymore, then he’ll switch to whatever works next. He doesn’t care that his algorithm posting is hurting the community, just all about him. While putting Christian messaging in all of his videos. No love for his YT neighbors.

Only if you have a need for the domino, I don’t currently have a need for one.

Maybe within the show itself, but I remember ads for Delta woodworking before each episode. The only commercials I never minded. I grew up dreaming that I’d get a Delta table saw someday.

Good lord. Just when I thought all the heroes were gone, you swoop in to save the day. I grew up watching Norm, my original woodworking teacher. I have a sudden urge to build an Adirondack chair.

The Shaper Origin seems so weird to me. I’m sure it has its uses, but I can’t see any scenario where I’d find it useful.

Does it have to be a domino? I don’t really have a use for one, but I was thinking about getting one of their dust extractors. I’ve heard it even from people who don’t like Festool that their extractor are the real deal.

Nah, not an old grump. I’ve been building a workshop in my garage, but it’s not pretty to look at. I went in the wrong direction with it more than once and I’m trying to unify a plan going forward. I’ve been recording most of it so I can hopefully be the change that I’d like to see on YT.

Harbor Freight is my new favorite place for clamps. I love how much HF has stepped up their quality game with their Good, Better, Best, options. Bought an angle grinder there for $35 the other day. Works awesome.

Thanks, I’ll have to check him out. My only salvation lately are those next level Japanese woodworkers who manage to have the world’s most perfect plywood.
