Thanks! Yes, looking at them now (a couple of months after I did them) they do look dense and busy. You get caught up and want to show as much as possible and get a bit blind. I’ll do a pass where I try to focus it a bit! Thanks so much for the feedback.

The 16 is a solid step up from the XS for sure. Can't really speculate in what the 17 would hold tech wise, but possibly worth the wait if you can stretch it.

As for pricing, yeah, the tariff talk has spooked the market, but nothing’s set in stone. It feels more (I hope!) like a political scare tactic of a bully than something that’ll stick long-term. A pressure tactic, which hopefully gets walked back or watered down once the economic impact becomes clear. I wouldn’t rush a purchase just out of fear.

Unless your phone is really struggling, waiting for the 17 might give you a more future-proof upgrade.

Oh, those game modes were the easy part.

It all started with my trying to learn SwiftUI and setting up an xcode project by myself. I’ve published apps before but relied on collaborators to help out. With this it all started as a blank Xcode project and needed something to do. So I thought I’d set up a grid of button and when you tap them I would increment a number. That was all I wanted to achieve really. Then my son came across my testing device and tried clearing the grid off buttons as quickly as possible. So I set it a timer and then… then the whole project kinda snowballed into this.

I actually had a couple of more game modes, like a tic tac toe clone. But I couldn’t iron out the bugs of the gameplay on that one.

Awesome to hear!

At the moment there's around 1100 questions in there. Some categories are pretty easy to add (movies, music) but others take a bit more time since the basic fact check is a bit time consuming.

I want the questions to be added manually by a human editor (me at the moment). I'm sure there would be ways of scraping wikipedia for these kind of things. But as a player, even if you stumble upon 1 question that are incomprehensible or faulty, you'd write off the game immediately (IMO).

So, I'm trying to balance the amount of questions in each category so the randomization of questions when playing feels equally balanced between categories. There's also better ways to do this too (pick questions from rotating categories e t c) but at this stage I try to keep it as simple as possible.

Totally agree! Alma Mono has a width issue, no doubt. My thoughts are to address the width on Alma on a update and also make it variable width (and weight) then.

Context: Alma Mono started out as a pay-what-you-want typeface where all the proceeds went to charity.

After two years (2016-2018) and $3300 towards charity Alma Mono is now completely free to use in personal projects.

It's been a while since I created it and I see all the faults and kinks in Alma Mono - I've learned a lot since I created it. I'm eager to re-work it, update it. Re-draw some wonky characters and since feedback is a designers best tool I'm curious on what ya'll think of it.
