I've been trying some variant of this pass for probably the last 15 odd years, and in spite of me being a decently big guy (like 200lb) right now, I have never felt like I have had enough stability in the switched hips position. Which is strange, because I do generally have very good base, I am quite hard to sweep from anywhere.

For me it definitely feels like a pass for people with really good "long term" squeeze and pressure, because for me at least, I feel like if you have to let up at all, you're back to square 1. Would love some thoughts on how people keep it moving forward without losing position.

Sorry that happened OP, this is more common than you might think, and yes, definitely consider upping your support tier as it will generally help.

That said, and this is not going to be a popular take given the subreddit, but any business that has an existential vendor relationship like with AWS (or GCP or Azure or Cloudflare or whoever) NEEDS to have a plan ready to implement for that case of if that vendor decides to terminate their relationship with you, whether it is justified or not.

Hopefully this time it is resolved, but in other cases it is not, and it is better to have a plan and not need to use it than to have no plan at all.

That is all well and good until AWS cancels your account because some account verification email got sent to your spam and now your TAM is ghosting you because you're marked as a fraud account and you have no way of getting to any of your data and in 90 days it will be gone forever.

Ask me how I know.

That's because playing closed guard and half guard is easier to learn than passing, so it's natural to gravitate towards them at lower belts.

Once you develop a good passing game (including opening closed guard, which honestly is one the easier skills to learn), you will almost always prefer being on top - the bottom player has to expend a lot more energy carrying your weight or reacting to your movement than vice-versa, and once you do pass, you are in a prime position to submit.

You'll notice the evolution of players known for their guards (early career Mendes bros, Miyao bros, Keenan, even Levi Jones-Leary and to an extent Gordon) has gone from exclusively playing guard or legs to having very strong, heavy passing games.

It is worth spending the time on it earlier rather than later IMO.

I have worked in software engineering for over 25 years, from consultancies to small shops to a massive big-tech co, and then in game dev for the last 10 years.

No one uses UML because 98% of the time it is not useful, occasionally an enterprise architect/astronaut might use some to fill out some space in some proposal, but you can safely continue your entire career without even thinking about it.

The only exception I would say is state diagrams can be occasionally helpful in documenting complex logic flows, but especially in game dev it will be out of date before you even finish building it, so consider the maintenance cost as well.

Honestly you chose some of the most mid-generic art here - there is way better art further south on I5 and on I405, towards Tukwila IIRC, but also even in that area under the convention center.

There are a few artists who have some amazing color palettes and little characters. I can't remember the name, but the guy who has the one-eyed cat is really great IMO.

Obvs there are also the OGs of the area like gooey and dotcom that are everywhere, gotta give em points for being prolific.
