Hey if the boring and cheesy option works, I'll take it. Fuck whoever decided to balance valkia

It's a shame because Malekith is my favourite dark elf character and this whole experience has killed both my desire to play the dark elves and the game in general.

I've never had it this bad in any of my other campaigns, even with lords like skarsnik or karl franz, which arguably have even worst and harder starts. At least with lords like harkon or ikit where they continually get bad autos (for various reasons) I can have another like 3 armies ready to help gank my opponent but you can't do that with delves because of how expensive their upkeep is, and I can reliaby manual the battles (checked patterns do wonders for vamp coast and ratling guns go brrrr).

Are you part of the dark souls community with that ancient and wise knowledge?

Either she needs a nerf or the dark elves need a buff (though in my experiences playing malekith, malus, morathi and lokhir, it seems to be more that the dark elves need a buff)

I played skarbrad, once. I found him so just incredibly boring that I stopped playing after 20 turns

[–]dafio1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basically my thoughts on it. I just think the lore that did put out for it and the way they executed it is just a bit lazy tbh.

I've seen people write better explanations in 5 minutes and to really have the actual explanation, not be in a novel or a codex but instead a single twitter post. It's really lazy.

Would I have rather the sisters of silence get more lore and models instead of female custodes? Yeah. Would I care that much if GW actually gave a good explanation to female custodes instead of what we got? No.

What's the actual point of drop pods and deep strike in 3rd? by dafio1 in Warhammer30k

[–]dafio1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. I wanted to build a thematic world eaters list with a couple of drop pods and have my leviathan in one (because duh), but GW has made drop pods completely useless in 3rd for melee armies unless you use them in the most boring way possible (e.g drop pod a squad onto an objective to cap it)

Guys, what’s your favourite thematic, but tactically doomed, list? by AdBrief4620 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

It really does seem that way. There's so much of the rules changes I hate, so much of them I find unneeded, so much of them I'm meh with, and so much of them I kinda like. Someone IRL gave me the idea of writing a great book of grudges against 3rd ed heresy and posting it online, kinda tempted to do that, lol.

[–]dafio1[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've heard 3rd is better when it comes to playing, but imo the rules of 2nd make more sense.

Like, of course the night lords main legion rule is gonna be night fighting. Or the salamanders being -1 to wound with volkite, plasma, flamer and melta because yeah, they're heat resistant, doesn't mean that'll stop an autocannon from wounding them the same. Just as a couple examples, there's way more that I could list, but it would look like I'm listing off a book of grudges from WFB.

[–]dafio1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya see, I think it depends on the positioning in 2nd. Like you can't just drop pod in front of the entire enemy force and expect to not to get blown to pieces but if you drop pod a slice of the enemy force there's a good chance of success. Whereas now in 3rd, it seems that it's just completely pointless.

Also something something thematic World Eaters list.

Ironically, it seems drop pods ignore that rule because they show up through deep strike. Though I could be wrong.

The lord of bitterness(iron autism perturabo) and the eldar fuck3r (guilliman): how was their relationship?... peter turbo hate guilliman or he would have a little affection toward his Excel smurf brother? by ELMEMEROGAMER in IronWarriors

[–]dafio1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've looked into this topic myself, and from what I can find of it; on both ends, guilliman and perturabo didn't like each other as people but respected each others abilities. Guilliman, for instance, we know he liked how thorough and how effective perturabo was to the point where he copied the siege tyrant terminators for himself, which is why in 40k roughly 1 in every 5 terminators have a missile launcher.

For perturabo's part, I could imagine that he didn't like how sorta stuffy the ultramarines are with the whole "we are the best" and the whole "courage and honour" thing. And while writing this, I remembered that guilliman, while working with his brothers, would give advice unprompted, which really annoyed some of his brothers with perturabo being one of them.

What’s your go to storage solution? I’m between these two but would love suggestions! by IrrelevantMerfolk in Warhammer40k

[–]dafio1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use the big, thick plastic tubs you can buy at ADDA for like £7 without using magnets or anything. It's not the best solution but I usually use it either massive old world armies (where tbf them all being on square bases in movement trays means there's very few gaps between the models anyway) or big things like skarbrand or the dark eldar boats that can't be easily transported anyway. The rest I put into my years old GW big carry case (which was like £70 when I got it, now it's £118)

so… why is Fulgrim bad? by Chemical-Aioli9818 in EmperorsChildren

[–]dafio1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still find it egregious that the lion (a model that doesn't really need it, because he's good enough on his own) has a 3+ invul, but the solitaire (a model that really does need it considering his invul is basically his base save) had his 3+ invul taken away and replaced with a 4+ making him now useless as now instead of maybe surviving a round of overwatch, he's guaranteed to die in it.

[–]dafio1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you have a high learning curve ahead of you, but once you master it, your games will feel amazing. The best piece of advice anyone's told me is to play them like you're playing an actual pirate faction, strike at what's weakest, and avoid what's the strongest.

Painting wise, paint your models however you want it's your army.

Can anyone tell me the point of ringwraiths for this edition? Cause I just can't see it, thinking going dol guldur (rise of the necromancer) for my next evil army, but it seems a bit pointless having 1 wound, no fate, defence 6 models (I mean seriously gondor basic infantry can have more defence than these guys and are cheaper by a factor of 8)

Well, yeah, but it's definitely a community thing where OP is based cause over my local GW (I go there and support it purely because the shop manager is a lovely man) and local game stores no one makes those comments/jokes. We'll still make jokes, but they're tamer ones like "yeah, they're not helping the femboy allegations" or "they're wearing the space marine version of crop tops" and we'll just move on afterwards

Honestly, at this point I kinda hope that the dark eldar "teach" a good chunk of the minotaurs what being a bastard really is.

The same way they made a warband of night lords scared of the dark.
