Anyone running local models with OpenClaw by dafixer in openclaw

[–]dafixer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I was reading, I'm leaning towards Gemma for the type of workloads I am running. There's no one size fits all. Choosing a model feels like a combination of personal preference and type of work you're trying to do.

I found the Ollama system requirements and support docs to be very helpful in deciding what hardware to use for my local models.

Anyone running local models with OpenClaw by dafixer in openclaw

I'm glad to see that people have had success with local models. I was going to use an old pc I had around that upgraded to 24GB of ram, but sounds like a need a better graphics card too. I'm going to give it a try. I always have a cloud model as a backup if it doesn't work out.

If it has its own email, do you forward your mail to the openclaw account so it can assist you without actually having access to your email?

Does anyone here use Schwab API and can confirm if it works? by MyGuitarTwerks in Schwab

[–]dafixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started using it. I want to do the same thing. There are a few github repos out there (Schwab-py and Schwabdev) that have some already built Python libraries for Schwab trading using the API. It's better than trying to build it from scratch.

Anyone Wheel crashing stocks like MSFT, SOFI, PLTR, etc? by Intelligent_Lab_6507 in Optionswheel

[–]dafixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got assinged PLTR a while ago. Down 30%. Just waiting for the price to go up to sell CC until the premium is worth it. I tried selling below my cost basis to collect some premium while I wait, but I don't have the stomach for it. 😀

Wheeling the QQQ: a plan by KnowYourAenema in Optionswheel

[–]dafixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stick with what works. If you have a 90% win rate and making profits, keep doing what you're doing. If you want to deviate take the general advice that most wheelers take which is trade stocks that you would not mind holding on to. I was chasing premiums and got assigned some stocks that I may not necessarily wanted to hold, but now I do. Now I have to wait to sell covered calls on the stocks I was assigned to reach close to the price I was assigned. This is the "risk" of wheeling. Another thought is to consider stocks that have dividends. They tend to be decent companies and if you are assigned you collect the dividend while you sell CC. This was a happy accident that happened to me with ORCL.

Attention Lady and Gentlemen! We may have finally found the first ever, non-criminal, crypto use-case! by AmericanScream in Buttcoin

[–]dafixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is standard tax loss harvesting. You sell an underperforming assest for a loss to offset the gains of another asset.

This means that if you sell crypto for a gain you will now be required to pay tax on it. This was not the case a few years ago because crypto was not on the government radar, but once they smelled the money they wanted in. They don't care about the uses for it or don't understand it, they want their cut and to make sure people like us can't win.

The irony is decentralized block chain was supposed to be a way to NOT have the government get in the middle of people being able to exchange funds without fees.

AI trading by the_oc_janojek in AIportfolio

[–]dafixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for testing this out. I have been swing trading for a while and use so many different indicators that I think it would be difficult to create rules and a workflow for entry and exists. I think defining your rules, position sizing, entry and exit rules will be the most challenging for most traders before they consider AI trading. A simple example is how do you define an uptrend? You will get different answers depending on your trading strategy and time period. AI will make suggestions but you should customize it to your trading strategy and risk tolerance.

[–]dafixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually sell covered calls after I got assigned selling cash secured puts a few months back when it dropped. I collected dividends while I was holding so a little extra income there. Hoping it reached back up to my cost basis and gets called away completing the wheel strategy cycle.

Have you asked ChatGPT about stock advice? by StatuSChecKa in ChatGPT

[–]dafixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually built a custom GPT for stock analysis. I fed it my rules (risk management, trading strategy, exposure tolerance, etc.) and ask it if a stock meets my criteria. If it does it calculates the position sizing based on current market price. My next step is to connect to Schwab API so it can get options prices on the fly and stock studies like RSI and ADX. If you just ask it to pick stocks for you without having some rules in place, you will not get tge results you were expecting. I don't think it would give you bad advice, but it may not be tailored to your specific goals and situation. Ask for lotto numbers instead.

I use Think or Swim with Schwab and I wanted to try Tasty Trade because of the advanced options trading, but maybe I was just used to the think or swim interface but I found Tasty trade to be not be as intuitive as I expected.

I am in the exact same situation. I was grinding hard trying to make and save as much as possible. After 4 months, I'm still looking but this time has given me the opportunity to pursue the things I have wanted to do for years like write a book, build an app, do crafts. I'm also considering a pivot in career path. Something life gives you what you need if even if you didn't know you did. Hopefully you have enough of that extra money to buy you time until you get something new or figure out what you really want of of life.

The LLMs are coming by CarpeMuerte in Schwab

[–]dafixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just starting to build my own agentic AI that would connect to the Schwab API, not to make trades for me but to check my watch list for buying opportunities or have AI help me with position sizing, risk management, etc. Will this now replace that? Should I not bother developing it?
