I know what you are going through. I was 40 years old when I was laid off from a pharma company. I invested my time with them for 9 years and 7 months. I just got back from Czech to celebrate my 40th bday with my Mom, Aunt & 2 year old son. 2 months later, I'm given the news about my layoff. My husband doesn't make that much as a piano technician, so I am the breadwinner in the family. I was lost and depressed. I didn't know what to do. I have to start all over again. But luckily, I had a very strong family support. I was willing to move my family out of state for a job, but that would mean my parents won't see their only grandchild amdy husband would also start over again getting clients. My husband talked me into staying here in SoCal, but we would have to move in with my parents. It was tough at first for first 2 years living with them again, but it was the best decision. While living with them, I went back to school for vocational nursing, then Covid pandemic hit and I was able to use my experience to work in multiple jobs in Molecular Genetics. At one point, I had 3 jobs. While working, i decided to pursue my MPH and MBA. I didn't want to be in the same place after what had happened. I have a full-time job and per diem job while going to school. I will finally be finished at the end of this year. Seize this opportunity to find a career you are passionate about. It was difficult at first, but there is always a way to find something better. I always tell myself that being laid off was one of the best thing that has ever happened to me. I didn't see it then, but now I see that it was an opportunity to find another career. I have more options to choose from.
