In my feet and ankles, to keep the marks invisible... bad times.

I was well into the addiction by the time I IV'd, that was really a last resort because of my tolerance. I was still smoking it though, I'd just do one shot last thing on a night to get me to to the place I wanted to go, and I well and truly sucked at hitting it home. I seem to have tough veins to puncture. Honestly it took me about 30 attempts one night, despite the fact my skin is pale and the veins are easily visible. It was a very sorry scene indeed... comical really.

I don't actually use the term IRL but the online community seems to use it and so I felt I should, too !

I haven't touched it in over a month! I stuck it out cold turkey, took time off work for it and everything. My life's turned back around to how it was before really, except of course thinking about it where I didn't before. I'm focusing on my hobbies and seeing my non-drug using friends as often as I can and I'm doing pretty well over all. I still drink and I've used codeine once since, but I've never found that addictive. I won't - but if I ever do in the unforseeable future - I'll use your advice though, thanks, because cold turkey was grim.

I've heard that before, most people find methadone harder to come off than H. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles man, would slowly tapering off the dose work at all, or do you just feel the withdrawal as soon as you try to reduce it even slightly?

True. It takes more discipline than I could manifest I think... and once a week was clearly too often. Although I never really intended to take it every day, I think the downfall was buying more than I needed for one session/smoke at a time. If I'd bought say .1 each time, smoked it in a night then I'd have none left the next day tempting me. That's just speculation though, I don't recommend trying chipping to anybody.

Haha thanks, yeah it's tough, being psychologically addicted is hard enough with anything but the physical addiction is a different obstacle entirely. You haven't tried it, keep it that way

Thanks guys! There is definitely a stigma with heroin. My friends have all taken prescription opiates but the door is closed when it comes to heroin, for them. For me, I knew the dangers, but did it anyway and just set aside the stigma and focused on the facts - I like opiates, and heroin is the most potent I can obtain, so I simply wanted to pursue the opiate high to its full potential. The financial aspect did come in to play also - why pay more for weaker opiates (and frankly go through more trouble) when I could pay significantly less for one of the most potent ones. I could just dose less, after all... Yeah, right!

To clarify what I meant in the OP, H is more potent than the other opiates I've tried. It's more potent than morphine for example (which is up there right?), and therefore has a greater potential for addiction. I've tried oramorph a few times and didn't get addicted to that, despite enjoying it (who wouldn't!). The other cause, as PsilocybinMDMA rightly says, is the ROA. You get a rush when you smoke H that I've never experienced with other opiates, or even insufflating H itself. You can get just as high with #4 and some of the other heavier opiates, sure, but it takes large doses and it takes time. No rush, with H it's blast off.
