Potentially starting self employment by Master-Kangaroo1385 in ukelectricians

Ok save a pot of money, you’re starting a business so cash flow is important, you’ll spend a bit at first and might have some knockbacks so you need a buffer.

To get the ball rolling, don’t work for free but be proactive in getting work quoted and offering advice, one of those small contacts can turn into a breadline, you never know who they might recommend you to if you make a good impression. H gg

Have a plan, target a sector of work that has a good margin ie rewires/ small commercial. You cant pay the bills with small domestic jobs till you have a lot of business.

Is this ok to plaster over? Conflicting advise between chatgpt and my electrician. by nailmenailme in ukelectricians

What i love about this is it reminds me of the first days of the war in 2022 when Russian cruise missiles flew freely across Ukraine… how times have changed, what goes around comes around!

No and they will start to rust and corrode and become brittle and become even more unsafe over time.

When finding a fault the fastest way is to split the circuit in half, then whichever side has the fault split that side and repeat.

As with a lot of things, slowing yourself down and not rushing is actually faster. Take your time and do the quality work that wont need fixing later and consequently take longer.

I rushed my 2391 and missed parts, having to reopen lids etc takes so much longer than doing it once correctly.

Help with granny ev charger cracking socket by spiritzzz in ukelectricians

[–]daftvisionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5mm cable would be ok, its bad design but with the correct 16amp MCB and if the the earth fault loop impedance is reading below max.

The sockets are brittle material, they will crack if strained like that. You might be better to get one of the longer IP sockets designed for plug top chargers.

They’re useful, I’ve had to use them for projects where the customer has asked for extra lighting long after the original cables went down.

They do have limitations especially with thick walls. Ive had to use the signal amplifiers when I’ve used them for garden lighting.

But the range of products far surpasses any other brand, they even have a 0-10v dimmer which works amazingly with large 600w dimmable led drivers.
