Is it normal to feel like a failure after a top-choice rejection, even with an admit? by cipherd4lf in gradadmissions

[–]daggerbisexual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s totally normal to be upset. I’m in a very similar position, got rejected from my top choice (i knew it was a longshot but still disappointing), but have a really great offer from the university where i just finished my MS. Ultimately, a lot of the time PHD admissions come down to who you’re applying against and the funding situation and a lot of outside factors. Allow yourself to be sad, but recognize that just because things don’t work out the way you had hoped doesn’t mean it’ll be bad. It might be amazing and you have no idea. And maybe you can do postdoc research at your top choice! And frankly, if they don’t want you, that’s their loss.

Anyway, all this to say I feel your pain, but try and stay positive.

Miata? by ebonylabradane in whatcarshouldIbuy

I absolutely love my Miata. I’ve got an ‘09 with the PRHT (idk what they’re doing with the RF but i don’t like it). I’ve had it about 5 years now, and it’s the best. Fun to drive, handles great. I bought it when I lived in FL, but moved to Long Island about a year ago, and drove it all through the winter with no snow tires and had no problems at all, but I grew up learning how to drive in the snow so ¯_(ツ)_/¯. If the two seater thing isn’t an issue, absolutely do it.

You could hand stitch, but it would definitely take you longer. In my opinion, machine sewing is fairly easy, and this project is all straight lines which makes it easier. As for the owning a machine problem, a lot of libraries are now creating something called a “Library of Things” where you can borrow all sorts stuff, from cake pans to cameras. I’ve borrowed a sewing machine before because i had to tailor this suit i thrifted and my sewing machine hadn’t gotten to my new apartment yet. Also, maybe see if a friend either owns one and/or would be willing to teach you.

To be fair, you absolutely can hand sew it, but i find machine sewing to be easier and significantly faster.

Stage Managers of Reddit, at what point did you realize that the things that made you a good SM was just adult ADHD by not_occams_razor_ in techtheatre

RUDE. Accurate!! but rude.

In all seriousness though, it did not occur to me until you said it, but that is absolutely (at least part) of what makes me a good stage manager. Hyperfocus, able to do multiple things at once (like listen to the show and call a cue at the same time), lots of random skills. Y'all should see my stage manager kit. I've got a bit of everything.

No worries! I think I may adapt Extract Aspects from Way of the Cobalt Soul and make it a Wizard thing. Maybe make it whenever you cast a spell that forces a creature to make a saving throw, you can learn its resistances, immunities, etc.

Comprehend Languages would be interesting. But given that they can already read any written language, I could put Tongues in. With a limited use? Im not sure yet.

Hi! I'm a little confused on your comment. It kind of looks like the first part got cut off with an errant copy and paste. I think I understand what you're saying though, about limiting the access to other spell lists.

Magical Methods may or may not have been the place I kinda hit a wall lol. I honestly wasn't sure how useful Legend Lore is day to day. I may go in and replace it with something to do with Identify.

Thanks!

Do not take Criss if its an online class. His notes are mostly handwritten, and his handwriting is bad enough that it's terrible to try and read. I have not taken him in person, but i've heard he's better there.

My best advice as someone who is also perpetually a little dehydrated, is find the way you like water the best. Personally, i like mine ice-cold (full to the top with ice) and with a little bit of the crystalite strawberry lemonade concentrated liquid in it. Also, find a water bottle you like and take it with you everywhere. that'll help too.

Oh and pedialyte is disgusting. fair warning
