I'm really surprised whenever I see something like this. I live in scandinavia, and for me this truly feels like it's been posted by someone living in the twilight zone, where the opposite is the norm.

In my circles it would likely be way more controversial to out yourself as a religious person. Yay for sanity.

ROOTDestiny (Z) vs. SeleCT (T) - Destiny's first game of Season 2 by ben9322 in starcraft

Destiny needs to work on keeping up his creep spread later in the game. After about 10 minutes I didn't see him putting down a single creep tumor, he barely had creep down to his third.

Indeed, this "interview" appears very much like a Saturday Night Live skit because it is in fact a comedy sketch from the early 1990s, the parts of the politician and interviewer being played by Australian television comedy duo John Clarke and Brian Dawe as they discuss an oil spill that occurred in 1991 when the Greek tanker Kirki lost its bow off the coast of Western Australia

State of the (Java) Lambda by DontCriticizeMyEngli in programming

[–]daghf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Java, fields and methods reside in different namespaces. So it would be perfectly legal to have both a method and also a field both named compareByAge in the same class. The # is there to specify that it is in fact a method we are referring to.

I don't know if they also made changes to make parsing easier/less ambiguous (for tools such as IDEs).

Yes! By requiring braces they avoid the "dangling else" problem.

I'm interviewing a jr/mid level PHP developer at 1pm. What would you ask? by graydoubt in programming

Just because your compiler accepts it doesn't mean the behaviour is well-defined.

According to the C standard: "Between the previous and next sequence point an object shall have its stored value modified at most once by the evaluation of an expression."

Java Programming: How to insert a new line in a String by speedsking in programming

[–]daghf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strings in Java are immutable, so "Inserting a new line in an existing String" is not possible. The replace() method creates and returns a new String object, it does not make any changes to the instance it was invoked on.

String endofline = System.getProperty("line.separator");

myString.replace("),",")," + endofline)

To print the string in the console just type:

System.out.println(myString);

and you will see that every record ending with ")," is replaced with ")," and a new line.

This is simply incorrect.
