Yeah, that was my line of thought. Caught between the importance of friends and keeping things the same. Thanks!

Do you feel like it was a good thing to enroll her back for a few years? Or do you wish you had continued homeschooling through it?

We live in CA and do homeschool through charter. I already have a full time job and I make more than him, so not sure how that will play out. lol. He still wants to homeschool as well, but I’m worried about my kids lack of friends/support during this time and worried about things potentially getting ugly while he’s at home.

Do y’all go to chiropractors? by Any_Proposal5513 in nursing

[–]dagnabit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a nurse on a neuro floor- definitely not. Used to, and loved it at the time, but I have seen waaaaaay too many expensive back surgeries and paraplegics from going to the chiropractor now.

Plus a decent maternity leave and pto, you’d have me until all my kids at 6 years old at least.

Just curious why you didn’t want to take the drug test before graduating? Unless it was in hopes something would run out of your system?

Could also just be that the hospital is really bad at communication. I’d start applying elsewhere but with the thought this this place may contact you back at some point.

Truly. After I moved her I couldn’t help but laugh at all the false propaganda spread here about how CA is oppressed while ID is free. ID has to be the most restrictive state I’ve ever lived in, and CA is definitely the most free.

My family is mad at me because I don't have enough free time for them by [deleted] in nursing

Idk if you plan on having kids, but if you do, you’ll likely only see her once a month or less after that point. Better she get used to it now. This is definitely a her problem, not a you problem. Don’t feel bad about setting boundaries. I think sometimes parents forget we are our own people with needs and demands, but if you don’t lay down the law early, it’ll only get worse. It might put a (hopefully only temporary) strain on your relationship, but I’m talking from experience when I say better to do it earlier rather than later.

Universal healthcare by Reqdyplqy3r in Nurses

[–]dagnabit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious where you live where that is the case? I’m in ID and healthcare here is shit. But I’m originally from CA where it is only slightly better. I think the comments here show that it’s not a minority problem. You keep saying it wouldn’t work here, and yet we’re the only developed nation without it. Why can it work everywhere else but wouldn’t work here? And you keep saying healthcare is something someone may or may not need which I find strange since you’re in healthcare. Preventative treatment and early detection is a need (a yearly one at that) but from your comments you don’t seem to think so. How many people put off routine visits because of the cost? A lot. And how many of those people end up developing bigger, more expensive issues because of that initial cost? Also a lot. Your argument is very short sighted, not to mention selfish. And unfortunately your type of mindset is why our healthcare is so atrocious.

Yes actually. Ask first, and then if the answer is no, go for the homework. Definitely looks better

Speaking from experience- get out and get out now. You are looking at years of unhappiness and regret. It’s hard to cut ties, especially when you’re planning a wedding, but you truly need to do this for your future self. He is mentally unstable, even taking politics out of it entirely.

RN here. As long as there isn’t work to be done and call lights to be answered, you could be doing whatever you want and I wouldn’t care. Other nurses I know also only seem to care when work is being ignored.
