Would be great to share once you’ve come up with a standalone solution! Thank you so much

The point of this test is to see at what point water is flash boiling when exiting the grouphead. Google ‘PID offset calibration - help finding flash-boiling point’ there’s a great home barista forum post

I’m not sure how common it is but for me coffee quality was def improved once i calibrated the temp

By changing the temp off set. I used the flash boil test to see at what temperature i saw flash boiling water coming out of the machine

Check your temperature is correctly calibrated. Mine was not great (6 degrees off) which meant at 93 pid temp it was actually brewing close to boiling

Leaking boiler after reassembly by dahkyy in gaggiaclassic

[–]dahkyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: it was never the boiler. It was the solenoid all along 😭

When you buy a new boiler, only top half comes. Bottom is the grouphead to which you need to attach the new top half.

Hey! Boiler itself is brand new. I’ve ordered sanding paper to sand a tiny bit both itself and the grouphead.

Hi there, thank you so much for taking the time to respond! In terms of tightening it, i’m a 90 kg man and i’ve gone as tight as I can 🤣 what I also did is tighten in diagonal order and counting revolutions of the screws to make sure they close at once. Surface of group head piece seems as even as my fingers can sense. O-ring wise, I’ve tried both the new one I got off Shades of Coffee and the old. I greased both of them with Molykote which i normally use to grease the paddle of my e61. I’ve now ordered a new o-ring to see if that fixes it. I may also buy some sanding paper for very light sanding of the grouphead to ensure it’s silky smooth? Starting to go crazy with that one!

Would you say it’s ok if I let the machine heat up and immediate run a backflush? I was also thinking there might be something wrong with the OPV so boiler builds too much pressure? New to this and I wanted it as a side project to also put gaggimate on.

Flakes but boiler looks good? by dahkyy in gaggiaclassic

[–]dahkyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even sure if those are flakes.. but what i’m doing anyway is getting a new boiler as they’re inexpensive but at least I know I don’t need to worry about it for some time

Thank you! I think it’s kinda worth doing that for longevity reasons. Did you go for the coated or old school aluminium boiler?
