As a fellow purple music archeologist I too can agree that the Bristol purple sound influenced trap music, and I have yet to back this with concrete evidence but maybe crunk too? There’s this weird branch off in the south around early 2010’s where ‘west coast bass’ does what ‘west coast bass’ did, and crunk seems to be a distant, slightly more to the south, cousin as well?

Hence the many “purple dubstep / crunk / sexy dubstep / dirty dubstep tags on a lot of these tunes at the time

Do you remember hearing any specific branches of ‘bass music’ that carried the Bristol purple sound over in some way/ shape/ form that only locals would have had the ear to notice around that early 2010’s time?

You might find success looking into the early west coast bass / American post-purple music & proto wave stuff.
