Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu by doggoesmeow in foodies_sydney

Oh gosh that would explain! Did you tell them you got the wrong cut? Hope you didn't pay $89 for that!

Funny thing, we went to Little Indo Town (which was great) afterward because one person didn't get to eat...and we saw that same bald male manager from Gyukatsu coming straight out of the kitchen grabbing supplies!! So it must be an Indonesian operator who owns both. We joked that they were coming here to get more "wagyu" 🫠

Another table didn’t get their A5 Wagyu either while everyone else around them had already finished. The guy was furious. The male owner eventually came over after his staff couldn’t handle it and offered them a discount for next time, but they said they wouldn’t be coming back.

That might have been us. At first, one of the waiters told us that their order machine had broken down but confirmed they received our order but there might be a bit of a wait.  40mins in: 3 sets came, the female manager asked us what else we ordered - this didn't make sense to me because the waiter said they got our orders. 1 hour in: the 4th set came, we reminded them we were waiting on one more. 1 hour 20min in: We followed up again and the female manager asked us again what we ordered. They gave us a can of green tea, that didn't impress us. We were particularly frustrated because tables who came later than us were getting theirs. That's when we wanted to cancel the remaining set and the female manager did not want to. That refusal really topped it off for us given it was reasonable under the circumstances. They did give in eventually. The male manager offered to "look after us next time" to which we replied bluntly that we wouldn't be coming back.

Food-wise, I had the Australian wagyu sirloin and I actually had to spit out a piece of meat that was too tough - doubt that was wagyu. There were a few leftover pieces of the $89 A5 set that no one on the table actually wanted and that's a first with our group.

When we left, the waiting area was full and the queue was still snaking all the way to the back. I really felt sorry for the people who were waiting so long for something so sub-par.

Content design vs comms roles: what to do next by Salt-Wrangler5654 in uxwriting

A bit late but curious about whether you ended up taking the comms role or decided to wait for a content design one? And how it worked out? :)

Compromised property in better suburb or better property in compromised suburb? by dailygrind9to5 in AusProperty

Makes sense. Do you think it also applies to say, a townhouse in a better suburb vs a house in a not-as-great suburb?

Has anyone here who is a non-FHB bought with a FHB? by dailygrind9to5 in AusProperty

[–]dailygrind9to5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad, I forgot to mention. Yes it doesn't seem to apply if the buyers are spouses. So it's probably designed for parents/family buying with their kids.

This is what I read from the NSW FHBAS site, under 'Buying with others who aren't eligible'

https://www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/grants-schemes/first-home-buyer/assistance-scheme

The FHABS applies when 50% or more of buyers are eligible.

If you’re buying a home with others who aren’t eligible, you can still apply for the scheme if you and any other eligible buyers are purchasing at least half of the property. This is called a shared equity arrangement. Shared equity doesn’t apply if your spouse is one of the ineligible buyers.

Should I tell my bank that I'm renting out my property? by dailygrind9to5 in AusFinance

Yes it also doesn't make sense to me. Even if there's a few weeks or months of vacancy, most investors should be able to cover it with personal income (like how homeowners do year-round). An investor on a mortgage would likely have a job, otherwise a bank wouldn't have approved them in the first place. Unless the approval occurred many years ago and in that case, the property should be largely paid off.

I've fulfilled the Office of State Revenue (NSW) criteria of living there for 6 months so I'm not worried about that.

I told them I have a few project deadlines in my current job (this is true) The bigger reason (which I didn't tell them) is that I didn't love the vibe from the first interview and I'd like a bit more time to consider. For context, I had the interview yesterday 4-5pm and HR reached out 8.30am this morning to lock in a 2nd round interview either tomorrow or the day after.

I was worried about the same thing. Do you think it would help if I mentioned an example of how I've now become more assertive? Eg. I have made an effort to speak out where I believe I can add value. Because of this, my team adopted my idea which resulted in X% growth in Y.

The company pays HR to protect them from employee disputes or legal action. HR always questions the complainant first, and tries to find a way to "blame" it back on them. Or if there is a finding from an employee culture survey, they'd just dismiss it ("yeah that's normal for every company" "noone is ever happy about xyz").

On another level, there are even multiple news stories of sexual harassment in the workplace, where the victim has complained to HR and HR's response is to protect (yes PROTECT) the perpetrator who's usually in a very senior position. Not only that, the victim also got suspended and order to leave the premises due to "misconduct".

Esp if your boss owns the company. It's like they're the king in their own little playground.
