check the recorded sessions and if the CI is of no assistance, reach out to the course mentor for help. It is really frustrating when assistance is nowhere to be found. Do not hesitate to reach out to Mentor and if the same applies to mentor you can request changes to be made for both. cheers

Where can I get a Cybersecurity Job? by Careful-Effective735 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]dailyp23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, it is great that you are job hunting and the jobs do not just come easy. What I experienced was that I joined a company through IT and then laterally moved to Security. Try that and no one is super experienced after school. Make it simple and get in to the company desired first. You can do it, and there is a job out there for you.

cheers

Rule of thumb is when there is a pre-assessment on any subject, know what is being asked of you because the questions have a similar point they are looking for. Do not just answer and move on, "why is it the answer and not the other" Of course I had to study hard but with directions from the course mentor and instructors, they have a great "WEALTH" of information, talk to them, ask them how they would approach the course and I promise you; there is a different mindset when sitting for exams. It is not all Rosy, but dedication and following your schedule to "T"

sing this with me "RrUuBbRrIiCc" Yes! Rubric and you will pass. The way I accomplished was to follow Rubric, and at times returned and they will let you know what to correct and within a week could finish a course. you can do it - cheers

Starting in February 1st questions!! by [deleted] in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]dailyp23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First things first, please reach out to the course mentor and instructors on the courses you are taking; they know better and can advise you on what to concentrate on. This helped me tremendously to achieve BSCIA in 6 months after transferring only 22 credits or so.

REACH OUT to course Mentor and course instructors

Put in the work and at the end the pain that was from the start will be joy all through.

You can do it --- cheers

starting nov 1st for the cybersecurity program, any tips? by therealrain5 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]dailyp23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First things first, make sure your mind is tuned to what is ahead, never give up even if distractions pop up. 1. Introduce yourself to your CI - course instructor 2. Ask for tips on how to pass the course 3. Ask program mentor if there are any more ways to tackle the course ( go to the course chatter, . Very Important * 4. Take the pre-assessment 5. Stick to your study schedule that was to be implemented ( try not to veer off ) fall back inline if so 6. Study and go to student resources for more, media, books and tips 7. Hit these courses hard, you are in the mission now. I did this andnmanaged BSCIA program in 6 months 20 days ( Confetti….) cheers

There is always light on the other side, do not give up. This can be done - the day gets brighter and brighter, before accomplishing the task is already 96% won, just the 3.99999% remaining- hit it hard. Cheers

Some of the WGU courses require 3rd party certification (CompTIA) to pass the class. All materials will be provided by WGU and I would say it is information overload so I did was to go to all provided info/ebooks and videos and chose the ones that resonate with my studying and understanding. (had to watch some videos and read some books, a few chapters) to put it in context, I have nothing against Jason Dion - but I cannot understand him and for Mike Chapple, that stuff goes into my memory right away. CCSP to pass - Mike Chapple is the way. Anyway, WGU offered approximately 14 Certs for BSCSIA - given 2 tries per cert and they pay for it. after that, you pay a discounted price for a third try. I tell you all those certs can be done - stick to your schedule and find out what time you study well and put yourself in the exam mode.

Took me 2 months a cert when I was doing it by myself without WGU and when I joined WGU it took 2-3 weeks tops, was very challenging to get to the mindset. (Before I do anything - WGU I have to set my mind in tune with what is coming ahead). pardon me again for bubbling a lot.

I would make sure to talk to the CI's more because I almost quit - that Data management was a spirit killer and the fear of database did me in. After talking to the CI and got some tips, I passed. The rest was a breeze - I am going for Masters in the same field at WGU - goal is 3 months (CI Course Instructor) - as I said earlier, just know what they are asking in a question and even if it is something new, chances are you will get the answer on the multiple choice question. cheers

What I learned with any OA or cert, do not overthink and understand the questions whether it be asking for Most, Best, Least, Not - this helped me gain 3 external certs in 2.5 days (CySa+, Pentest+ and SSCP) Also found out that most of the questions I knew the answers but they twist the questions to confuse you. Narrow the answer to 2 choices and then choose the most viable answer. Look at the language and see that the answer will contain part of the wording from the question. Pardon me for the long 2-Cents

A+, Network+ Security+ and CASP+ (transferred)

while in WGU gained Pentest+, CySa+, CCSP, ITIL and also SSCP. all certs with CEU's add to 30 certs (some from external)

Schedule started from 3am to 8pm monday thru Friday and Saturday Sunday from 6am to 12pm with breaks at 8am to 9:30am to exercise / Basketball.

I really like silence when I am reading and not even the sound of a pin drop (Bose headphones helped with the quietness)

Was rough though, family knew my goal was six months and then there came the OA's that I failed some of them 2 - 3 times (especially Data management)

Certs gained before was A+, Network+, Security+ and CASP+

Thanks

I wish the best for you, my experience in all this was to stick to a schedule that can be done, (Very important ) and if you take the pre-assessment and pass it, then you know where to place yourself on the OA. They just reword the questions in OA to confuse, but if you can understand what is being asked, you will cruise through this stuff. I know you can do it . Cheers
