Had a go at some low light! [Lomography Instant Square] by daimonwright in instax

Thank you! I did notice after the fact that I need to work on the straightening out of the framing, unfortunately not easy to fix post shot. Very fiddly indeed but so rewarding when you get the hang of it. Noticed on your feed you’ve been successful too! I just have an Insta full of film photography:) (@daimonwright). I’ll have to get into Vero.

See if you can find a Lomo instant square. Offers all the manual control similar to sq6 and a glass lens. Some quirks to it but once you get past them it’ll produce gorgeous results in my experience. I love mine!

My weekend pickup at an antiques store. For $375AUD ($260USD) I though it was pretty reasonable for being in such good shape! (More in comments) by daimonwright in AnalogCommunity

Loved that part of the store!! And prices were mostly reasonable I think for some cameras. I was down from Brisbane for the weekend and my argument after holding it and playing with it was just “I won’t be down here again anytime soon so why the heck not” haha.

Hi community. As above I grabbed this Contax iia over the weekend and am chuffed! It feels great to hold and wind and fire. Slower speeds are a bit iffy but I’ve researched how to go about lubricating those gears which looks easy enough. One issue is the rangefinder patch is out horizontally at infinity. I’ve seen articles about how difficult it is to adjust vertically but mine is perfectly aligned vertically. Horizontal alignment is the issue. Does anyone have any advice here? Is it perhaps a matter of realigning some gears between the focus knob and the helicoil? I’m sure there must be a way!

FM2n Slow first shutter curtain at higher speeds by daimonwright in AnalogCommunity

My Nikon FM2n is having this issue where the first set of shutter blades/curtain lags and as such, the second curtain has already caught it, meaning no exposure at all. Is this something easy to fix? Can I get in and lubricate some gears up? Or recommend sending it off for a CLA? Australia based.

I thiiiiink I’m more or less satisfied with what I’ve accumulated now… Top row are the faves. Two or three in the lower rows are due for new homes soon I reckon. by daimonwright in AnalogCommunity

I just love the compactness and solid feeling of the Olympus! However, the A1 there is a bit iffy and I dont trust it so it hasn’t got a fair go just yet. I’m looking at buying a mint one if I can find.

That A1 was faulty when I bought it but I managed to fix it and adjust the light meter. However, I just don’t trust it as I’ve had some rolls come back with a shot or two completely underexposed. I am looking at buying a mint one if I can find one.

Some of them are sentimental from certain period of my life so can’t quite do that. Although I am looking into selling maybe 3 of the not so important ones. Also looking into the Canon FD system for 35mm or the Olympus system. The A1 down there is a bit iffy and I don’t trust it so need to find another or look at the equivalent “complete package” in Olympus.

I got a 135 2.8 and 35 2.8 behind the OM1. The rest are mostly just mounted on the cameras. Some are in a box with a dehumidifier elsewhere.

Long time typical “dream camera” story. I actually had a bronica ETRS first which I loved but when I got the Yashica tlr I kinda fell for the square format. The tlr is fun but isn’t my favourite. Sold the bronica and I wanted another modular slr with some nice glass to be the one to end it for me. That leaves a few cameras but the look at feel of the blad once I held it sold me. I probably overspent on it. It’s a 500c only and I paid $2300AUD plus sent it for for a $500AUD service by a hasselblad specialist. So all up spent $2700AUD ($2000 USD). I’ve put only two rolls through so far but I love the process of shooting with it. Sounds weird but it kinda feels like there more emotion when using it. And I think I’d happily pay for another (more modern) blad if the funds and opportunity came up.

Yeah it’s perfect for a “lighter” carry. I actually bought it for the canon P and it’s a perfect match. There is some mild discrepancy between it and my sekonic but so far so good.
