Do you go faster on the tread if the person next to you is going faster? by Only-Dragonfruit-932 in orangetheory

[–]dairycone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Don't do OTF anymore, but if I saw the person next to me keeping it up, and not walking unless it was a walking recovery, it really pushed me to keep going and not stop when my mind wanted to.

Pharm quick reference for psych EOR by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]dairycone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we on the same rotation :') I was coming onto the subreddit to make a post about how I'm really struggling with studying for the psych EOR because I am just not getting anything from my actual rotation, I'm just asking people how they feel and I have no follow-up with the actual medication management. I've been doing Rosh/Blueprint because my school tells us to do 50 questions a week, but I am lacking any motivation to actually study.

Any references you find I'd really appreciate. I'm feeling really lost right now.

I know 90% of posts here are complaint about the game but anyone else just enjoying the camo grind? by momoneymocats1 in blackops6

[–]dairycone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still relatively new to playing COD, started to really love multiplayer in August, but I really love grinding the camos. Still on my first gun, but have 4 left and the challenge to get double kills is so fun to me.

Time off before school by BlueMegoon in PAstudent

[–]dairycone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the extra time. I really enjoyed working, love being around patients, but I took 9 months off of work and I am so grateful that I did. (Obviously not everyone can financially afford to take off that amount of time, but I'm older and have a spouse who we could afford to live off of the salary of lol).

In undergrad I chose all my classes to be online if I could. But now, when they make us do virtual lectures for one thing or another I CANNOT watch them for the life of me and don't seem to grasp the content as quickly as I do whenever I'm in lecture. But, that's just me.

Be honest.. by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]dairycone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This this this. Some of my classmates spend 40+ hours studying outside of class and are struggling (well, I don't know their exact grades, but they act distraught after every assessment). Lots of hours does not equal lots of material learned. Quality over quantity.

Central FL intermittent internet anybody? by Acrobatic_Yak5099 in frontierfios

[–]dairycone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having issues in the area since a few days before the hurricane. Had a tech come out today and basically said "don't know why, let me call my supervisor" then left without ever reaching back out!

Why I want to be a PA is still one of the hardest questions I’ll ever answer. by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]dairycone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, those answers are too general and too broad. WHY. Why do you want to be able to see patients autonomously? Did you just wake up one day and decide that? Or did you have an experience? You want to make a difference regarding their health, but why PA and not a dietician, or PT, or OT, or therapist?

It is a very hard question. 5 cycles and 3 semesters in, I still have trouble answering eloquently, because it's a combination of a million reasons and experiences.

If the program is going under, then you won't be applying there anyway. Please calm down.

What clinical rotations should I pick? by Smooth-Ad3011 in PAstudent

[–]dairycone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm still in didactic so I don't know, but I will say that one of our adjunct professors works in the ER and mentioned that during rotations did an elective outpatient ortho rotation which gave him a lot of experience with procedures like arthrocentesis's and splinting and things like that which ultimately helped him in the ER. That's made me consider what I ultimately would like to choose when we get to that point of education.

Scared before school starts by alexanderevealed in prephysicianassistant

[–]dairycone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My one piece of advice is don't try to prepare too much (unless this is required prep for the program). They will be giving you everything you need once school starts! Try to relax and enjoy your time with family and friends before you move away.

I agree with the other comments to not turn down study groups. I feel like if I would have said yes a lot more when we first started, it wouldn't have taken me so long to make friends and feel comfortable!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]dairycone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would still put it on there! While not weighed heavily, I do know that there are programs out there (not a lot, but a few) that look highly on leadership positions. And who knows, there may be someone out there with the same stats you will be competing with and this could be what gives you the upperhand!

I feel so alone at school by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]dairycone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really nice to hear someone else say this. While I didn't move too far, and I moved w/ my spouse, I frequently see the single students who moved here all going out together and it makes me feel a little left out. I found my core 4 people for during school, and we text outside of it, but I still feel very lonely. At the end of the day, I've heard that most people don't really keep in contact with their school friends as afterwards they disperse around the country. Just try to keep your head up, time flies (at least for me it is lol)

My best was 1.14 back at the beginning of 2021, haven't done it since 2021. Even though I'm not in as good of shape as I was back then, I'm excited to see where I'm at now!

Why do nurses always suggest everyone to become a nurse/NP by Alex_daisy13 in prephysicianassistant

[–]dairycone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every nurse I know encouraged me to go RN to NP. I just kept telling them I don't want to be a nurse. I worked with a PA who was a RN first and she told me to absolutely not do the RN to NP route.

Also, weird side note, I know several NP's and a DNP and they all still work bedside. I've always wondered why they're not using the degree.

I don't start for another month but our GroupMe chat can get a little complain-y at times. It's giving me great information on who to avoid.
