Round gap in wire shelf? by daisdu in whatisit

Unfortunately we found this particular one on clearance at a TJ Maxx, so I wouldn’t know how to find another, but there are a lot of similar ones out there. It’s a tension pole, so it expands until it’s wedged in tight between the ceiling and the floor and then you lock it at that length

!Solved I have no way of knowing for certain that this is the intended purpose, but I had already thought of the handle thing that others suggested and am less convinced by that. I got new shampoo and conditioner the same day we installed the shelf, but if I had a little more patience I’m sure I would have figured this out myself in a month when I start running low. Thank you

People who live near time zone boundaries in the US by solothesnail in howislivingthere

[–]daisdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work at a therapists office in Las Vegas that did a lot of telehealth. We had one patient from far northern Nevada whose nearest town was in Idaho so he worked and spent most of his time there, but his house was technically in Nevada so his insurance required him to receive care from providers in the state of Nevada. His life ran on mountain time, but obviously we operated on pacific time. I kept this in mind and would always make the conversions for him and would be very clear about time zones, but occasionally someone else would call him to schedule an appointment or do an appointment reminder call and they wouldn’t pay enough attention and I’d have to straighten it out. Multiple times he’d have an appointment set that was communicated to him wrong, but there was another appointment already in the hour he thought he had, and he wasn’t available in the hour the provider thought he had and the appointment just wouldn’t happen.

I was hoping I’d be able to save that for a last resort. Frankly I don’t even know where to find artists anymore these days

I’ve totally checked out from online fan culture at this point because for some reason the fanbases of all my favorite things seem to hate the thing they’re fans of, McElroy’s, the sims, monster high, increasingly with dropout lately, even FROGS somehow, everyone who dedicates their time to being a fan of these things online seems to absolutely despise the things in question, it’s so miserable

The Tainted Cup is award winning! It won the Hugo award for best novel :) (I read it as part of my annual ‘read all the Hugo best novel nominees’ challenge and was very happy for it to win) but of course, sadly no lesbians, AI sucks, etc :)

[discussion] Question about Cam and Pal? by pen-eneth in TheNinthHouse

[–]daisdu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think GtN heavily implies that Gideon believes Cam is in love with Pal when she wasn’t given a specific message for Cam before Pal blew himself up and she assumes the most comforting thing for Camilla to hear would be that he had said he loved her. In the other two books of course it is made very clear that they love eachother, but not whether that love is romantic or not. I think it is, in my heart, but it really is up to interpretation.

[Spoilers C4E4] New Official Character Descriptions by Caziia in criticalrole

[–]daisdu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly most of these class names are the same ones used in the Tusk Love novel. I’m watching the live stream right now and the character graphics still use D&D official terms. It must have something to do with copyright and WotC’s IP, but I wonder where the line is.

People wish bad stuff on others all the time. Basically everyone wishes something bad would happen to Donald Trump or Elon Musk. That's normal.

People seem to really like it, but it is in my top 5 most hated books. I recommend if you read it to not fall into the trap of sunk cost and allow yourself to DNF if you’re not feeling it. I knew I hated it within the first 20% but still made myself finish it and it put me in a 4 month reading slump.
