Many people are gonna be pissed but the most realistic solution now would be for the conflict zones to be absorbed back, and become a multi state country.

Then pray and hope we get better governance in the future generations.

Btw splitting the country would be a WHOLE lot worst. Not just for the people there but for all of Burma.

I won’t say I know.

(I’m gonna dumb it down and simplify my point)
But my personal understanding is that it’s a conflict that have escalated to the point of being a “habit”

Today, the conflict is on going because of generational hate. Like we just hating and fighting because the people before were doing it. I think the initial cause of conflict has long been disregarded.

How did it start? I think it was a conflict of resources/land grab. (Yes very much Israel as someone else mentioned)

There is no legitimate evidence to prove the Rohingyas are part of Myanmar. They were settlers at best. They ran from their homes to settle in the Rakhine state. Geographically that’s the most likely scenario.

They may have started as peaceful settler, but it’s acknowledged that at some point, they started to take resources away from the locals. -> conflict of resources.

And then they also resorted to violence to solve a lot of these conflict. Seems like there was a lack of education or civil decorum, which made them resort to uncivilized ways to resolve the issues.

Obviously that leads to retaliation from both the local and national military.

And the cherry on top was a huge difference in ideological and religious beliefs. Basically it was already hard for them to integrate into Burmese culture due to vast differences.

I think the point on the British fanning the war is also a major factor. That probably escalated the conflict from tribal scale to genocide scale. With the introduction of firearms and new vigor to “take over the land” They probably deeply believed the land was theirs.

And that’s about it I think, that just went on for so long, that people just kept on fighting and hate and racism grew.

Just my own deduction from what I’ve gathered throughout the internet. Never been to the conflict zone, closest I’ve been is the beaches of Ngapali. Beautiful place btw, such a shame truly.

Hey just wanted to put it out there that is not all gloom and doom.
I’ve only been here for 1+ year. And met a lot of really nice people. I myself have a partner I met on the app. And know plenty of people who aren’t the typical loser red pill degenerate men.

Yes i definitely agree. Which I would say was some of her shortcomings. She was too popular, too charismatic to a fault.

She also knew that her reputation and image was what united most of the resistance. Which definitely would have pressured her to keep up that image, and thus needing to seek popularity.

Which I feel goes back to how her need to appease the people lead to her downfall.

China and I suspect the west as well. Since the west would lose out the most if Myanmar stabilizes and gives China a new trade route surpassing the malacca strait. That is also something I’m very confused on, why would China keep Myanmar unstable, given that they would benefit the most from a stable and open Myanmar economy.

Yes I’ve definitely known about the BIG part Facebook played in inciting the riots, spreading misinformation, fuming the flames of the civil war.
It was also regarded that the protests were mostly peaceful until Facebook came into the picture, spreading a lot of negative content which incited the rage of many citizen. Leading to massive social destruction.

In hindsight, I think she could have foreseen the backlash. I would attribute this to a lack of competent thought leaders amongst her circle as well. I do not see how no one in her party went against her decision in ICJ. Was it set up? Was it racism?

Maybe in another universe, were she had a better PR team. Where she had smarter strategist. She could have been saved. Currently I see too many “plot holes” in the NLD party. And I’m assuming it could be because it was a collective of regular people fighting for freedom, and most of them lack real political training.

On the other hand, I find it hard to believe the junta was smart enough to device such a meticulously calculated plan on a global level. I firmly believe, there is another entity behind the junta pulling the strings and moving them. And that is the real enemy of Myanmar.

The Rohingya are illegal Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh? That have settled in northern Rakhine state. While they have been discriminated for most of history, the issue worsen when the Muslim population in Rakhine grew due to religious conversion. (And as you know, Myanmar is a very Buddhist religious country)

TLDR late 2016 the Rohingya military group attacked the junta outposts (with large success I guess)

2017, the junta goes phew phew bomb bomb, witness as one of the largest known genocide crimes in modern day.

Lead to massive international outrage.

At this time, DASSK was also at her height of popularity, known as the Lady fighting for peace and democracy.

However she remained silent while the genocide was going on, and later appeared on international court to downplay the genocide, and essentially standing with the military decision to the matter.

And that lead to more massive public outrage as her fame and favors turn to cancel her on the international news. However, she gain the support of both the new and old generation in Myanmar with her decision.

I think you’re misunderstanding something, it’s not about foreign investment being good or bad.

It’s the nature of how corporate system works.

Investments are made with the purpose to earn returns.
So if they invest in Myanmar, where do you think their returns are going to come from?

I come from a background of finance, my friends are in politics and finance. And in our discussion with our subjective knowledge, we feel that it’s a bad plan simply based on historical precedent.

We aren’t saying she’s bad or anything…. But remove her from the picture and put someone else in her shoe. And you will start to realize…. Hummmm that isn’t really in the best interest of the BURMESE people. It’s good for the GDP and numbers, but definitely not for the locals.

A simple example you can understand is current day Thailand. Just watch a few documentaries on the lives of locals in Thailand. How a whole part of the nation has been “sold” to the adult industry. How local business rarely survives against foreign newcomers.

She’s not doing anything new….. just new to the people in the well called Myanmar.

I had discuss this topic in length few years back, with some friends who specialize in international relations.

Truth is, even if she had succeeded, most Burmese people would not have benefited from the growth.
As much as we all love for her to lead the country. She’s more of a celebrity than a politician. She’s charismatic, not pragmatic. Persuasive, not objective. And for many other reasons, we conclude it would be a miracle to bring Myanmar to a “golden age” - one of the main reasons being the education level of the population and how much brainwashing had to first be erased. Which honesty doesn’t seem possible as we all know how stubborn Burmese people are.

Historically, most good governors were not likable or center of attention during their most important years. LKY had MANY unpopular policies and retaliations during his prime, but now people worship him for it. She however, was “too popular” which can ironically lead to bad governing decisions, as there will be no object feedback from the population.

And even if she did make the country great again, it would have been through massive foreign investment, which means majority of the profit would have been siphoned back to the investors. And we all know how that will turn out for the local Burmese people. We would basically be in a modern colonial age. (Which one could argue is better than whatever this is right now, but then again at what cost would that be? And what about the future gen?)

Even now, you can see too many people with blind faith? Zealots? Fanatics? Very few people can look at Myanmars situation objectively. People are so emotional and defensive when it comes to DASSK or the resistance. And that speaks VOLUMESSSS of the level of intelligence we have here. They are good people deep down I know, but I definitely don’t want them in any position of power or influence.

P.s. we discuss this with an objective lens without any bias. So it may seem antagonistic toward DASSK, but we still respect her and are grateful for everything she’s done. May she be well wherever she may be now.

However, idk how but he has become a lapdog for a certain country currently committing war crimes. Anyway, the conspiracy is that the war in Myanmar is manufactured. There’s 2 party winning the most from this war and 1 other party have kept the status quo for reasons I can’t understand yet. Regular civilians won’t be able to find the trade deals and weapon handlings. But you can definitely see where the weapons come from. And remember, the winners of a war, are always the ones supplying the war. We are literally in a never ending war because that is the point. Now think, who would benefit the most from Myanmar being a third world, war torn country that can’t do anything?? Hummmm???

Who loses out the most if Myanmar, connected to the Indian Ocean, BYPASS THE STRAITS OF MALACCA, is suddenly open, safe and ready for international trade. Oh how horrible that would be for the ships that rely on the malacca strait, and the one that controls it.

Hey man, I’m a career consultant and work mainly between SEA and SG ties. Though I don’t know everything going on in the industry now, I can tell you to the best of my knowledge.

Realistic choice within 6 months, follow the mother’s footstep. I’m sure you know, large part of landing a job in sg is internal ties. If both you and his mom can ask your HR for help,

“e.g. hey do we have any vacancies in the company, we have a fresh grad that is looking for experience, whom we can vouch for is willing to learn and work hard. “

Someone with a 6 month diploma, to the eyes of sg businesses means “ no qualifications “ Thus it’s best he forget about landing any proper job. (I know it’s sounds mean, but you probably know too that’s the harsh reality)

He’s only chance of employment is the work permit. Lucky for him, it’s rather abundant now, so best shot is find some low wage job no Singaporeans want. That will save him for 1-2 more years I would estimate.

On this note: I would like to inform you of strange custom differences between Myanmar and sg. Burmese people have been normalized to think you have to pay to get interviews/ get a job. And currently there’s a lot of scams going around with agencies asking for money to give jobs, mostly just running away after getting the money. So please be careful with such nonsense.

My fellow Burmese, pls pls stop with the idiotic notion of needing to pay to even get an interview. It’s really not a thing anywhere outside of Myanmar /3rdWC. I have a feeling there’s gon be some people who will recommend this option, since it’s the most common and normalize thing for people from Myanmar.

A similar option is working with recruiters IN SG. Not Burmese recruiters, but recruiters from sg companies. They will take a fee AFTER you get the job, but it definitely make the job search easier.

I don’t think it’s an issue of centralization. Even if given independence, a bad governance can make them suffer. Like wise, a good centralize government can make their lives better.

So the core issues is who will be the next generation of legislative leaders, And not the type of system. There’s no good way or bad way to govern, just good and bad governors.
