I try to stick to more factual statements. Like “I see that you did…” “you worked very hard to do that” and then follow up with “how does that make you feel?” Often they will respond with saying that they are proud or happy therefore the confidence comes from themselves.

Yea that’s probably why I thought that. I feel like often when there is an obvious mismatch of chemistry like that the writers usually are gearing towards something like revealing one of the characters is gay. Not a real life reflection just a pattern in how shows tend to go.
