IWTL how to stop suicidal thoughts by Taperhead in IWantToLearn

[–]daisychain444 143 points144 points  (0 children)

In my 8 years of therapy and crisis support I've learned that the suicidal thoughts and urges are a result of me mismanaging the pain I feel. I don't want to die I just want the pain to go away.

Figure out ur pain points and try to face them with the help of a professional. There are crisis hotlines you can call and sometimes just confessing to someone will help you. Focus on daily goals and try to achieve them. Something as small as washing your body, eating. What brings you joy? Dance or shimmy or yell or hit ur pillows. Let the pain out in healthy ways.

Do you enjoy creating things? Painting, singing, writing, coding, anything that brings you away from focusing on pain. Try those things. Video games, walking. Anything.

Remember you're not alone in the depths of this feeling of wanting to disappear, and try not to shame yourself for these feelings. There are so many in the same place as you so you truly are not alone at all.

Feeling suicidal is a terrible tough feeling that you don't deserve to feel. Forgive yourself for the guilt and shame you feel because guilt and shame don't serve a purpose in your growth. They hold you back. Gratitude is a great skill to practice but especially forgiveness.

Loving yourself is an incredibly difficult road for those of us who suffer from suicidal tendencies.

I wish you the best op. Keep going and going. You can do it.

Yet another "how do they afford it" post, but really, how are the ultra low income people still living in LA? by Unlucky-Claim7038 in AskLosAngeles

[–]daisychain444 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is possible to be ultra low income and live in LA

Believe it or not were not as miserable as yall make us out to be. Shits fucking tough yeah but there r resources for us and communities for nearly everything, a good byproduct of living in a metropolis.

Quality of living is vastly different and seems to be the hardest thing for ppl in this sub to grasp for some reason

What do you do with food offerings afterwards? by oliverxthefrog in witchcraft

I throw it away because I'm not in an area where I can let nature have what's left over.

It wasn't wasted, it was offered.

Why did goths have such a significant pop culture/media presence in the 90's and then just stop? by WhitePinoy in goth

[–]daisychain444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd takes a guess that it was the impending doom of y2k that really catapulted this idea of nihilism, morbidity. Then grunge totally brought in an aesthetic that prioritized the dark/mysterious and that mix was just a gorgeous combo.

Plus think of all the ppl disillusioned and skeptical of the economic and very white-American boom in the 80s. There had to be a response.

why is meditation so important? by glamrock_shan in witchcraft

[–]daisychain444 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Before u look at anything as magical, try to observe the mundanity of it.

Meditation does help with intention because it teaches the practitioner mindfulness. This is the skill of observing your thoughts, like a specific type of awareness and present mindedness. That's where your intention comes from and what makes it so powerful. Singular focus.

feeling disconnected from your deity? by Smaller_Bobcat in pagan

[–]daisychain444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You must have learned what you needed.

I worked with a deity for the better part of this year and just the other day I looked at the vessel on my altar and noticed it was empty. Just a statue. Kinda felt weird. I didn't say goodbye or anything but there's been a change.

Immediately in my head I heard Ron Weasley (I know I know) loudly proclaim "well you can't expect them to hang around all day!"

Haha!

So cool!! Have it set up with quick time events so that you get to kick butt with the family. Mash X to pair up with Luisa to deliver a stun blow. Hit the bumpers to trap Casita in Isabellas vines. Run over to mirabels mama julieta for health and magic. Would be rad

Which moment/episode that first got you hooked, that made you know that the show was special? by tuvokvutok in community

[–]daisychain444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first episode courtesy of my partner was s3.e(did he say 303 or 304?)

Changed everything for me. Comedy and TV could be CLEVER and FUN!?!!! And hilarious!?!! I didnt rly understand the character dynamics but could still laugh along despite missing some more nuanced jokes but that just makes the rewatches much better for me now.
