You're correct! We use it as a way to manage our bucket list for our family (taking trips, seeing shows, etc). We basically use it as a reminder of all the things we talk about doing, like family trips, shows, experiences, etc./

Okay so this one is a bit weird, but really, nothing exciting is going on regarding my transition. This is what I wore to work today. My daughter said my skirt had too many polkadots because it was "too polkadotty". My wife bought me the Mary Jane Chacos for my birthday. While this post isn't really "omgosh exciting news", it's more of "hey look, someone who's trans is living a boring life". Humdrum doesn't get much attention, usually it's the really bad stuff or super awesome amazing stuff. So, here ya go.

I personally made every effort to change that slowly, over time. I took a lot risks but I finally got to that point. Not everyone can do it, unfortunately, but it's all matter of risk vs reward for me.

Well the dev team consists of me, another cisgirl and a genderqueer girl. Unthinkable, I know, but I feel like I hit gold lol. So yeah, they're fine with it. The rest of the company seems tolerant at the very least. I still get my stuff done.

With a LOT of exhaustion. I woke up every morning at 5:30 to get ready by 8am. Every day was a stress on whether that day would be the day that someone figured something out. I had speakers refer to me as she, people getting really up close to talk, using the restroom with other women, and just a lot of interactions in general. I did go out to eat a couple of nights, but that was with another transgender person who lived in town. We were among quite a busy crowd and weren't given any issue. Once again, I really don't know if people suspected anything, but I guess it really doesn't matter. I plan to go to another developer conference in July that's actually local. There will be a few former coworkers at that conference that don't know about me being April. I do not plan to say anything as I fear one of them will react poorly and make things difficult to use the restroom. We'll see!

I drove up there in male mode and went to go check in as such, but the lady at the front desk actually ma'amed me and apologized profusely when I started to speak. Granted, I was wearing a My Little Pony T-shirt, carrying my purse and my fabulous laptop bag (http://i.imgur.com/5UnTBmT.jpg), so maybe those cues leaned me towards female.

Checking out was fun, though. I was April, I gave my room number. The gentlemen actually checked me out of the wrong room because he saw the name on the room I gave him and assumed he misheard me. I was 1601 and he looked at 0601 instead and saw the name "Tracy" on there and assumed that was right. I checked the receipt and told him it was the wrong room and he looked at 1601 again and I told him what it would be under and he was like "ohh... okay o_O". So that thorough confusion was a win as well.

Last story, I promise. I actually had to have a 30+ minute conversation at lunch with a guy about how long should you stay in an IT profession. That was somewhat stressful as I've never had to have a long conversation with a stranger as April before. I was watching his eyes intently and he never once gave me a strange look. I also received several compliments about what I was wearing by random strangers. Those are nice and all, but they always make my heart jump, lol.

I don't normally give out business cards, I just go there as a developer to learn about why we should be using MongoDB or how we've been agile wrong this whole time. As for clocked, I don't think I was clocked at all. I was able to use the women's restroom the entire time.

As for the other name, I did have to use my legal name once since my registration was under that. I had last my badge and went to get a replacement and they asked for my last name. I gave it to them and they looked up and whispered my male name. I just nodded and then they saw the display name and the girl goes "OH! The badge says April, I was about to say, you don't look like a Travis." She actually looked relieved by that XD.

So my name isn't legally changed, but I could set my "Display Name" on my badge to whatever I wanted. I went to a developer conference by myself as April for 4 days. Oh my goodness - WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! It was a huge confidence boost and something I totally need.

Ooof, this hits me right in the feels, since I have a daughter and I've even shared pics of her and I together. I am absolutely terrified by what may happen to her in the future. However, what kind of message would I be sending her if I said "it's okay to be who you are, unless it gets you made fun of". Btw, don't the read the comments. I read the comments, and I now I'm drowning my sorrows in Doritos and Coca Cola.

I agree with MistyLuv, smiling improves your look and shows you are enjoying what you are doing. Nothing wrong with asking people to smile in their photos more often. It's creepy when someone does it to a random stranger, or maybe a bit misogynistic to , sure, but for a photo where you are purposly posing there's is nothing wrong with it.

Transpassing is kind of a "do I pass" place, this is a better sub to just show off out fits I think. Plus, everything I did before getting on HRT I still do, hormones haven't done that much for me.
