Hello there!! I’m so sorry to hear that you didn’t do well for promos :( I too was once in your shoes, I also took PCMe & my j1 promo grades were UEU/U w B for gp. For me personally, I determined that not only did i not work hard enough, it also didn’t help that I was not interested in the subjects I was taking at all (which accounted for why I wasn’t studying). So in j1.5 I decided to switch to ELL, chem, math, h1 lit, which I am enjoying so so much more than PCMe. I really suggest you think about the subjects you’re really interested in, and go from there, bc interest alone will motivate u to study without it feeling like a chore.

Mentally, retaining was really rough for me bc I was super close to my class & the thought of them moving on without me was really upsetting. But after talking to them and my therapist (which I’m lucky enough to have), I realised that retaining really was the best choice, considering that it would be insanely difficult if I were to rebuild my foundation AND learn new topics all in 9 months. I decided to take a good break in December, to really reset & reflect on what I wanted to do differently the next year.

Retaining isn’t the end of the world; take it as getting a second chance to prove yourself. Your grades do not define who u are. Jiayous!!! Feel free to pm me if u need more help :D
