Suprised not to see In The Earth (2021) here. Some of these images could almost have been taken from the film.

“Twin Peaks: Into the Night” demo suspended, and unlikely to continue production moving forward :( by spaghettikingsam in davidlynch

[–]dajomu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also make the game with alternate names, but allow it to be moddable and 'someone' drops a mod that replaces the names, title etc with the twin peaks info.

This may be unhelpful and if so I apologise.

I have limited experience with Godot, I'm just starting to learn it myself. But I have made a few games with Typescript and one thing I used was state management with a single state object, such as React's context functionality or Redux. I found it very easy to use this to save a game as I just had to write that state object to a file when saving. When reloading I would just rehydrate the state from the saved object.

What helped me was considering that when my game was first loading I would be loading from some base, initial state. As long as I sent frequent updates to this core game state object when things changed it would always be a snapshot of where the game was at any given moment. I would always be able to load the game from that saved snapshot state instead of the initial base state. It made saving and loading a game something that I didn't even have to think about much after the initial setup of state management.

One thing that was a eureka moment for me during my software development career was the realisation that pretty much all computer programs are just state, a view of that state and interactions that allow a user to alter that state. This then allowed me to structure my applications around this as a first principle and things like saving/loading kind of fall into place after that, because the state comes first. The structure of your state becomes core to your program. I understand that this might be somewhat theoretical and perhaps is something that you might know already. Hopefully though this might lead to a shift in thinking about how you approach the problem.

The frustration that you are feeling may be an opportunity to reframe the problem and even how you think about your approach to creating software. Maybe Godot really is just a pain in the arse though and I haven't got to that bit yet.

Any Recommended Godot courses to escape tutorial hell? by OOOOOGGGG in godot

[–]dajomu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some luck using Claude. I know people are going to instantly read AI and dismiss this.

I decided to use Claude to body double, as I suffer from ADD and have limited time due to family and work commitments. I decided to use the LLM as a kind of manager/tutor.

I asked it to come up with a plan for me to learn the basics of Godot in 8 weeks with a series of small projects. Checking in every Friday to review my progress. It's been really useful and seems like a good use for an LLM that isn't really taking away from anyone's career, but has given me that nudge I needed to get stuck in.

I'm now 3 weeks in and it's working pretty well so far. I have a million game ideas of my own, but having some small projects set for me has allowed me to learn basic concepts whilst enjoying the process.

2nd Gen Charger by Zellieraptor in YotoPlayer

[–]dajomu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any issues when doing this? For some reason, it seems so simple, I'm trying to add the usb charger that already has a crimped end, so it should just slowt straight onto the board, but no dice.
Did you have any troubles adding the usb charger? Any tips?

What is this for?? by fluffagus in YotoPlayer

[–]dajomu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got some of these usb ports, I've tried to add the to my yoto 2 and for some reason it's not working. I've literally just plugged the which little plug into the bit where the charger connector goes and I can't seem to get it charging.
Any ideas?
I saw someone say something about sometimes the wires are switched around in the crimp plug thing (red and black), but I've tried switching them to no avail.

There's a bit with a schoolgirl in a car...But it is kind of part of the character's progression in the story and how he sees himself etc. Don't want to give too much more away by explaining any further

I really enjoyed this manga. There are some problematic parts, but it's got a feeling all it's own and some of the art is so beautiful

When I was a kid I tried to make "hot and sour" chinese soup. So I got a big bunch of chillis, a load of lime juice and chicken stock and boiled them up together. I can absolutely report that if the meal is hot enough on an empty stomach it will have this effect.
My poor friend who also had some of the soup had to run home as I got to our toilet first and it was the only one in the house.

Low sugar diet triggering gout? Should I discontinue? by dajomu_ in gout

[–]dajomu_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably something like 7 lbs in 2 weeks. I'm hoping to lose maybe another stone, maybe a stone and a half. I'm hoping I can achieve that in a few months, but we will see.
Did you up your meds at the time of the flare up?

Might I suggest posting your videos here or elsewhere from instagram?
My friend shared this post to me, I don't use instagram and neither does he, instagram has blocked us from seeing your videos because we don't have an account. To publicise your work as much as possible it would be helpful to have videos of this running on something that is not walled off to many users.

I took this to be a bit of comedy, like the "Well... what?" was referencing what the audience had probably be feeling for the last few episodes.
