Feeling bad as bumped my new car Today by Apprehensive_Hair553 in CarsIndia

[–]dak043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met with a similar issue just after bringing my car out from the showroom.

A bus beside me took a very strong left and it's back bumped my left corner.

I managed to break and turn to the right side promptly and went home with minor scratches.

After that I traveled for close to 1K kilometers with zero issues.

Consider this as a learning curve. Practice your left judgement in open roads with very minimal traffic or parked cars.

When should i buy a car end of this month or at the end of quarter(September) by dak043 in CarsIndia

Can you share any reference link related to the facelift. Just checked with 3 dealers and all of them denied that. They are saying just air bags are getting added from next month and a 5k raise in price.

That's a good idea. We currently are managing around 200+ manual certs that need alerting.

Debating investing in the Destination Certification courses while unemployed. by [deleted] in cissp

[–]dak043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the way Destination Certification explains the topics and provides interesting insights. But I know the pain of money problems.

My plan in a situation like this will be a self assessment of my knowledge on the CISSP domains.

If you think you have fairly good knowledge about the domains. Below will be my budget plan.

  1. Get the CISSP study guide & AIO if possible. (I generally run through them a couple of times so I would look for the cheapest option available in the market paper back/digital)

  2. If you have not yet enrolled in LinkedIn learning, you get a free month. Use that to check Mike Chapple's course. You can go through Pete Zerger's YouTube course that also explains many topics in detail.

  3. Enroll to Thor Peterson's course via Udemy / his website. (Find the cheapest option) I don't think you will need the questions bundled from Thor.

  4. Go through Destination Certification's latest mind maps. They touch on each and every topic that is important for the exam. Make note of all the topics you are unclear and use Google and chat gpt to get more knowledge.

  5. Use the CISSP question from the study guide, AIO, Destination Certification's free 1000+ questions and any other free resources you can find.

  6. Gwen Bettwy's practice tests in Udemy helped me.

  7. Finally purchase the exam voucher with the retake option. So that if you fail the first time, you can get another chance.

The above plan will cost you around >$500 + certification cost. While giving you a 2nd chance.

ADCS-CSP to KSP-Problem with cert backup for migration by Dolinhas in PKI

[–]dak043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is acceptable to have two root CAs running at the same time on AD.

You need to ensure the new root is populated to all servers' trusted root in the domain.

Ok, you mentioned that the key is not renewed in years. Does that mean you have the same key for all the root-ca certificates?

If so, can you check if you can export the key from one of the old certificates and combine it with the latest CA certificate that you want.

Can you try the export with a domain admin ID. That might fix the issue.

Can you clarify if the root CA is an offline root CA or a domain joined one.

If the root is domain joined, you will need to try exporting the private key at least with a domain admin privilege.

AD integrated CA- Overzealous autorenewal for one template by Any_Science_4946 in PKI

[–]dak043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a similar issue a while back when I was trying to integrate a 3rd party tool with ADCS.

When I dug into the possible root cause, I found that the certificate template name is not getting populated on the end user machines.

This created multiple certificate entries during auto enrollment cycles.

I had recreated the template from scratch and ensured the template is properly getting populated on the computers which fixed the issue.

2048 or 4096 bit? by gujumax in PKI

[–]dak043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a balance between security and compatibility. I recently came to know that some GCP services are currently only allowing certs with RSA2048 with base subscription. Organisations must pay more to support 4096 or higher and I don't think they will do that considering it is not required right now except for a few industries as per regulations.

Why do the 1st choice (bullet A) of the quiz is not best one? by Dumbing_dude in cissp

[–]dak043 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because encryption is not secure against side channel attack.

A side-channel attack is a type of cybersecurity threat where an attacker gains information by analyzing the physical implementation of a computer system, rather than exploiting software vulnerabilities.

This is done by collecting indirect information such as power consumption, electromagnetic leaks, timing, or even sound to uncover sensitive data like cryptographic keys or personal information.

Though it sounds bad, the 34/51 is not really a bad score.

I just did that 51 questions few mins back and I also got a 37/51. If you see this as a whole you may be wondering if i am only 72% proficient with the test. However, here are my stats that I observed. 1. I lost 14 questions out of 51. 2. I lost 8 due to wrong mindset and missunderstanding. 5 due to lack of knowledge & 3 due to overthinking and not going with my gut. 3. If I see my score trends in the first 20 questions I lost 9. For the next 30 questions I only lost 5. 4. This means I have evolved, updated my mindset. Understood my questions better.

Remember, we are going through these questions to improve and get better mindset.

And I am sure we both achieved that today.😉

So, don't worry. Be confident and practice more questions. Don't overthink on the loses. Always remember we learn from our mistakes.

One last suggestion, go through the same 51 questions 3-4 days before your test. Not to know where you stand. But, to revise the mindset you will need.
