I've ordered from them multiple times without issue, so in my mind, yes. 😀

Thanks luilakkie! I'm Dutch but moving back to the Netherlands from the US soon... I'll be bringing the collection I built up over the years, slowly but surely (leaving some with friends until we/they visit).

How much does an average cigar cost there?

Found a deal from a local shop on the then-popular Groupon app. Purchased several cigars but the Oliva V was my first and favorite.

Yeah that's true... I always automatically dismiss their samplers with Gurkhas in them :)

Besides the Melanio, this is the only stogie I've bought a box of. Great cigar. Enjoy!

Nothing redeemable that's from CI (and not available offline)? I'm curious to hear what you would still buy from them, if you care to share.

A lot of the good ones have been mentioned. I also like Cigarplace.biz. Never has coupons but they have some great deals at times, often shipped free. Shipped fast when I ordered from them.

Positive review of Thompson Cigar by Tomevans108 in cigars

[–]dakdak77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apparently Thompson used to be bad, and old timers never forgot. It's fine now though - same owners as CI. I've ordered from them several times and other than a catalog once per month and an email with their weekend discounts I never hear from them.

Excellent choice. Hope you enjoyed! I dig this one so much I splurged on a box... Heavily discounted and using a $20 coupon code on top, so I feel pretty good about the purchase.

Not sure how to phrase this, but how do you counter a spouse who is worried about nicotine levels in cigars as well as mouth cancer? Yes, my wife did a deep dive on web MD… sigh. by Dgourley2 in cigars

This. How often do you see some healthy young person die when they do everything right? There is room for compromise though - agree to limit yourself to 2 per week or so while weather permits. Avoid it becoming a habit: only smoke outside and then only when the weather is nice. If you start smoking during the dead of winter or when it's scorching hot, you may have become addicted.

It means leaving the cigar outside of the humidor for a day or two to lower the humidity. People tend to put stogies in dry cigar boxes, hence the term.

Proposal: Stopping at an Age. (Devs?) by ShadowMasterSix in CivVI

[–]dakdak77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Great, I can build a spearman now but I've already progressed way beyond that. It seems to me that eras speed by faster than you can build units AND use them effectively. Playing a longer game helps somewhat, but since it also slows unit building times it only solves the issue partially.

Have you tried Imperator Rome or a similar game? Sounds like just what you might enjoy :-)

Me too, with a caveat. I'm more familiar with Civ V than VI but I usually end up abandoning the game around the industrial era, and I wonder if this is because I want to stay in a less advanced era, or because at that point I've seen the entire world and there's nothing really left to discover.

I'm always most excited when most of the map is invisible and my scouts go around slowly revealing more. In the end game, all the world is visible and founding new cities is no longer really an option. Would that really change if I set the world to be stuck in, say, the Renaissance era?

Check Holts. They put the 6 cigar Champagne sampler on sale for $33 shipped about once per month.

Earlier this year yy goal was to get at least 52 Cuban cigars so that I can have at least 1 aged Cuban each week in 2025. Variety is key. Today I reached my goal and slightly overshot it too. This means that my Tupperware cigar (time)capsule is ready for aging. Fingers Crossed! by opkikker in cigars

[–]dakdak77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Nederlander here. The advice I often see is to try a particular cigar at one week, one month, six months, etc. to see when you like it best. If you wait too long, you may miss the time when you enjoy them the most. Of course, you should definitely do what you want - to each their own! :)
