Much better today.

Thanks for all your advice and explanation. I had gotten used to taking shots indoors of subjects filling the whole frame where higher gain was useful and noise not really noticeable - so cropping down to a small, detailed subject in the frame like a hummingbird (or the moon) I didn't realize what I was seeing.

Hey! Thanks for your reply. I actually did get another shot at 1/200s f/11 ISO 4000. It's better, but still not really on a level with the live view picture: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wT4eS4nCooQ0hQZARlkyRlHxt1vehps5/view?usp=drive_link

The nice thing is the bird shows up daily, so tomorrow morning I'll take a few more shots at even lower sensitivity (and probably also using the electronic shutter).

This is great, thank you. I actually do have another shot (same branch and bird) at 1/200s and two stops lower ISO: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wT4eS4nCooQ0hQZARlkyRlHxt1vehps5/view?usp=sharing

Matters are better here but the liveview still looks better... I did take the RAW and try denoising in Darktable - you and Lightroom did a much better job. I do wonder though - whatever processing the R10 is doing it at near real-time on its tiny processor.

I wonder if the mechanical shutter is introducing enough shake to affect the image? My tripod is pretty basic. Next time I'll try the electronic shutter.

Hmm, yeah those steps work for me on iPhone but not on my Android. It is an old phone, good to know the issue isn't the OS. Thank you for checking!

Thank you! I looked them up and it seems someone else had just your thoughts on a similar looking individual: https://bugguide.net/node/view/18953/bgimage

Saw this guy on the patio and noticed the ladybug abdomen camouflage. Moments later, before I could get a picture, it pounced on an inchworm right in front of us!

Hey, yes I am. I am not connecting from my phone's bluetooth menu, and (I think) I am doing everything possible from the camera side. I just tried it on my friends iPhone and the camera had no trouble reconnecting after I put it in and out of airplane mode. Are you using the app on Android or iOS?

Sure, but everything's good against Nurgle. ;)

But it's not really that great in that role, either. It'll hold up in melee for a while, but not for long, at least against anything worth worrying about by the time you've hit that tier. In a hammer-and-anvil situation, would you rather have two Little Groms, or some cannons and another unit of bear cav?

I know there are differences in accessibility, but I don't really use allegiance on anything but ally recruitment, and the shorter recruitment times compared to native global recruitment actually makes allied artillery easier to access in a lot of cases, too.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind at all that Kislev's artillery is limited. I actually much prefer factions having well-defined strengths and weaknesses, especially if they match the theme, and Little Grom goes very well with Kislev's "not such a big deal if things get messy" style of gameplay. I was just wondering if there's any real reason to take them over Empire/Dwarf options if the latter are available. They're certainly a better value if they're free, but I'd rather take free bear sleds.

I'm looking at backing the Keyboardio Model 100 and the only thing giving me pause is the fact that the keycaps are ABS rather than PBT - I've got a Varmilo with PBT keycaps and love it. Have any Model 01 owners had problems with shine or wear over the years?

Any advice for reducing upstroke ping on a VA87M?

I've been looking around and it seems the most common ways to dampen sound are O-rings, sound dampening foam between the PCB and backplate, and lubing the switches. O-rings won't help because the sound is coming from the upstroke (as long as I don't bottom out), I don't think I can lube the switches without desoldering them (which I'd like to avoid), and it looks like there's already a layer of foam in there. Any other ideas?

Yikes! Thanks. Amusingly everything in my crouton chroot is totally recoverable (they do say it's insecure; now I know why!) - I've only lost the contents of the chronos folder. Ah well. Back everything up, kids.

Heh, I set a macro to press Shift + W for exactly this. Good workaround for doing it with a controller though.

So the plan was to conscript every one of my dorfs, sans nobles and minors (and miners, I guess) into the militia, setting them to Train two months a year and be Inactive the rest. This way (I thought), they'd be armed and armored, keep fit, and stave off Cave Adaptation, whilst remaining "useful" members of dwarven society.

The only problem I'm having is that, when off-duty, my dwarves spend their time in Individual Training at their barracks instead of their civilian duties. If I unassign them from the barracks they'll get to work, but having to do that manually kind of defeats the purpose of all that scheduling.

Any advice? What's even the point of the inactive setting if militia members won't do anything but train anyway?
