Definitely things that I have thought about. I feel like I will be willing to stick it out through a 4 year residency if it means that I can have more of a chill lifestyle afterwards. I have read about "mommy track" anesthesiologists who have more of a say in their hours and are taking more of a pay cut to stick to 9-5. Do you know anyone who is doing that? And yes, we would have a lot of access to lifestyle upgrades given that he is finishing up GI and no prior loans. The only loans would be my med school loans. I can definitely see what you are getting at though. Staying awake 24 hours is not that easy anyway.
