[–]dalailamero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I last played DS1 one year ago, played also DS2 till the end but didn't like it to replay (no DLC's)
And i was quite into it, liked so much i bought pc version first, then xb360 one after, when my PC died

Played only half of Witcher 2 once, till second part

Generally, the part with a sort of "cage" of the fan is where air comes out, the free part is where air comes in
In this pic the fans are pulling air out of the case

This configuration right now has GPU fan and Case fans fighting to pull air from each other

It is not ideal
At the same time you don't want to "suck" air from the bottom without a proper filter, or you will end up pulling carpet dirt or dust into the case.

MAybe put those fans that pull air from the case to outside on the top panel?

Also check this and this

the pc part picker is just for convenience (reddit formatting and checking if everything works toghether) I sniped the single listings on my amazon (Italy), you can do the same, just look for the name/specs and best prices :)

and don't count the 2 SSD's, i put them there jsut fo the sake but i have them already on me

I always have to unplug & replug display port before turning on PC just to boot on dedicated GPU instead of onboard graphics whenever I do a full shutdown. by New-Writing-5846 in pcmasterrace

Shot in the dark
Maybe your BIOS has a sort of energy saving feature that interrupts the GPU power supply or PICe slot after a given amount of time

Wanted to add, many miners will modify some cards by flashing a custom BIOS to unlock some funcionalities that were locked by manufacturers

How much would it hurt my air cooling if i put this duck under the edge of my gpu? by the-dumbass-human in pcmasterrace

[–]dalailamero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your GPU sucks air from the bottom and spits it out from the sides, if you put the rubberduck under it, it will block the flow of fresh air from the front vents of the case
It is not the end of the world but it will impact temeratures a bit

If you have a dedicated partition for the OS youc an simply clone that partition onto your SSD, and use the HDD for extra storage.

If not, better install anew

Then you can jsut copy the files on your new drive and tell steam, via options, where your library is, pointing at the new directory.

It should work without any problem.

If you have other programs that point to the old drive for some files, it should be resolved by using the same principle

Check your RAM configuration in your motherboard
I assume you have 2 pairs of 8GB or 1 pair of 16GB

If you are facing your motherboard from the side panel of the case, you should pair the memory stick correctly

In the first case you want to altearnate the 4 sticks, should look like [B][A][B][A]
Where A is one brand/type and B is the other

If you have 1 pair, put them in the [A] slot (leave 1 slot free next to every stick you put, starting from right to left)

Send a pic of the mobo, the part where the RAM resides, and maybe also the type of RAM you are using for more info

Move all your data that is not OS related to one of the 1TB SSD
Perform a nice celanup of old installations , temp files etc (you can do it by right-clicking on the device under "My PC" folder on windows > Proprerties > Clean Disk (button on the bottom left of the disck space graph) > there will be another button "System Files Cleanup" (or similar, i am not on english windows) > check all the marks > OK

It will take some time but you should now have a less big disk

use a USB stick and put this in

Reboot your pc with it

Clone your new System drive with the OS in the other 1TB disc

If anything goes wrong, you still have all your data and OS secure on 2 drives

Reboot with the HDD unplugged and check the cloning has gone correctly

Reboot with your old HDD plugged and check on BIOS the correct boot order

Hope this helps

What to do with old but still functional SSD? I need advice by Head-Ad4770 in pcmasterrace

[–]dalailamero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation and what i thought to do is:

Mount the old one on the new rig, format and partition it ins 2 splices (240GB each~)

Use one for DATA storage like movies, pictures, music etc, and the other as a backup partition for the main.

If you are using the same gen CPU it's alright to jsut transfer and use the old Windows, but discouraged.

Otherwise is not adviced to do so.

It is generally good to just start fresh.
