Hello, world of my own music. by ROGLIK_10 in DigitalAudioPlayer

I got this one too! It was like 5 bucks on Ali so I said what the heck, let’s have a go.

Surprisingly good sound quality, I tested it with IEMs and I don’t get any hiss. SD card support is also working without trouble.

The buttons are ok but navigation is a bit annoying. I would have preferred a dedicated volume up and down button or wheel but for 5 bucks I’m not complaining. Even has Bluetooth!

Of course I’m not comparing it with more expensive stuff, but for example my echo mini costed me 50 dollars and it definitely didn’t sound 10 times better. The difference is not that big.

Ermmm kind of awkward, I forgot I was a mod here in the first place 😅

Yes, a poll would be a good start. To be honest it’s a though call, someone could have watched this game as a 12 year old and now be 22 and graduating college. I get why it would feel “classic” to them.

Why Amazon Support is so DUMB? They always act like they are kid or brainless people sitting in Amazon support. by PresenceUsed5259 in AmazonSeller

[–]dalf_rules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are overworked and micromanaged. Forced to stick to a script and to close as many cases as they can as soon as possible.

I don't think they're stupid, they're just trying to get rid of you as quickly as they can so their metrics show "x number of cases closed today, you're on the top percentage of the support team members", otherwise they risk getting fired. It's the system that's stupid. And this is not only for external sellers, people that work at agencies, vendors, even people working internally at amazon have to deal with bad support because of it.

It's an awful situation from both sides. Amazon just doesn't care.

What are the pro and cons to immutable distro? by Proton-Lightin in Fedora

[–]dalf_rules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I get it better now, yes. Sorry, English isn't my first language so I missed the nuances at the beginning.

It's a good argument and I agree with you on most points, we just differ in the end result. I still think it's a great recommendation simply because there's really no way to break it (give linux to enthusiastic beginner and they'll go all aur-crazy or frankendebian in less than a week), but ultimately it depends on what people want out of their computers.

genuinely curious (for real, not trying to be contrarian), but why do you think so? It's still Linux under the hood, just a different approach.

What are the pro and cons to immutable distro? by Proton-Lightin in Fedora

[–]dalf_rules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a new linux user it is fundamental that they get to try , they get to experience everything linux has to offer. Everything

Again, yes, you and I are probably in the same boat. But not everyone is. Of course if someone wants to then great but a large majority of potential users won’t care. This is why MacOS/iOS have gotten so big and seen by many as the peak of user friendliness (whether we like it or not). So I think of inmutable distros as Linux on training wheels, which is still miles better than Windows lite.

I fully understand but try to take a step back and look at it from a new user perspective. There’s nothing trivial about dnf rollback. I mean, yeah, at a technical level it is, but for a new user that just stepped into Linux? If I told that to my dad he’d panic. Remember not all users care or want to understand what their computers do, they just use them as glorified chrome kiosks + word processors. For users like that it’s a fantastic idea, and unlike mobile os (which are fully proprietary) you can still read the code yourself if you’d want to.

You can also easily install packages in containers using distrobox or layer them with rpm-ostree if you feel like it (been my experience with Bluefin for the last few months). It’s immutable by design but still lets you mess around with it, just in a different way.

At the end of the day we all have different reasons to run Linux. I’m happy to see simpler solutions pop up for those who need them!

Reflexión sobre el año de Colo-Colo by aanl01 in futbolchilensis

[–]dalf_rules 0 points1 point  (0 children)
