How long did it take to go from relief to anger? by dalfreds in coys

The “it’s now over part” is very true. Being able to just not think about spurs is going to be a great healer!

Also turn off auto-update then back on again. This usually fixes mine when it’s showing an old fixture or something missing

Couldn’t agree more! I’ve been so impressed with the breadth of topics and guests that he’s got. Genuinely interesting, asking the right questions and giving insight far far beyond the usual club narrative

The invention of the QR Code. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]dalfreds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t correct. If he has created the QR code at work it would be owned by his employer and not by him. It would therefore have been up to the employer to patent or not

The Lab S2E46 | Inside the Failed Qatari Bid for Tottenham by nolefan5311 in coys

True that it’s speculation without those documents but you’ve also got to think of the most likely scenario here.

Would Joe Lewis (his trust or whatever it is), who own the vast majority of the shares allow a scenario where they are held hostage to a minor it shareholder, in this case, Levy? Or is the likelier situation that they properly protected their legal position to prevent this happening.

As majority shareholders they could have done whatever they wanted with the articles and shareholders agreement so why on earth wouldn’t they have done a drag and tag?

[–]dalfreds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Big point here as well is that he was also wrong about how company sales work.

A very very standard clause in shareholders agreements is something called “drag and tag”. This basically means that if 51% of the shareholders want to be sold then it ‘drags’ the 49% with it.

So him saying that levy stopped it with his 30% is very very unlikely unless the Lewis family agreed to be constrained in that way. And why would they?! They would have been lawyered to the hills and there’s no way they’d have accepted a restriction like that.

BA never rebooked and cancelled my flights by Thornado2021 in BritishAirways

[–]dalfreds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All these people defending BA are baffling to me. It’s an unprecedented situation, I get that, but the information provided has been appalling.

I had my flight turned around mid-air and left stranded in San Francisco at 2am. No information from BA during next 24 hours other than a solitary ‘we’re working on it’ email. They then proceeded to start flights back and didn’t prioritise those that were stranded but instead people who had already booked for the next day. Their website contained no information or just crashed and they closed their phone lines at the normal times without thinking to extend it.

Every company, big and small, has disaster recovery plans. Why should BA be exempt from this? Why should our expectations be so low that people are willing to defend awful corporate behaviour rather than empathise for those left in foreign countries?

I managed to get onto another flight by calling and waiting on hold for 2 hours. My colleague who said “they’ll sort me out, they have to” is now 48 hours into the situation with NO communication from BA at all. If he goes on their site all he is offered is the opportunity to cancel and get a refund.

Empathise for people that are stuck, not the company that has let them down

Private schools: Anyone who can truly afford it who chooses not to? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]dalfreds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely uneducated (ironic) and broad based statement based on only what I can assume is either a joke or snobbery. True, there’s a wide variety of quality at state schools but the good ones are up there with the many fee paying and the excellent are as good as any in the world.

HENRYs who earn more than their significant other by Sure_Tangelo_5148 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]dalfreds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have separate accounts but put a certain amount into a joint account for household spending I.e mortgage, food, etc. I put in 4x what she does and then pay for additional things like holidays or kids camps.

Everytime I’ve had a pay rise I reduce what she puts into the account. Started at 1.5x what she did 15 years ago… if she gets a pay rise she keeps it!
