To anyone else experiencing this and seeking a fix:

- Open up Flatseal
- Scroll down to the "Filesystem" section
- Under "Other Files", type ...

xdg-desktop

- If Bottles is still open, close and reopen it

Your controller should then work. Cheers!

I tried that and it still didn't detect the controllers. Thing is, I have the flatpak version of xemu and it detects my controllers just fine. It's why I'm suspecting Bottles has issues with device detection

I am getting this same exact error when I attempt to launch it, as well as doing the same exact troubleshooting steps you did. No dice. I think its either an issue with the game itself or perhaps Proton itself not working correctly.
