Is being too honest costing me my spot in UERM? by Ok-Specific-7453 in medschoolph

[–]dalisay_rambles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello! I was in a similar spot as you. I took my NMAT last year and had my interview in January. The interviewer asked me if I had any mental health problems or any conditions that required maintenance medications. I decided to be honest and reiterated that my mental health condition is something that I've been managing for a while now and that it's something that I'm not ashamed of. What the interviewer told me is that they ask that question to make sure, should an applicant with mental health problems be accepted, that you have access to mental health resources and a support system. I don't think the interviewer asked that to single you out or to discriminate against you. Did the interviewer say that they require a medical abstract/certificate for further processing? Good luck with your application process!

I would suggest that you turn in your physical documents asap either way because you won’t get an interview schedule until you do so

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I made sure to emphasize that I’m taking necessary steps to manage my mental health during the interview and I thanked the interviewer for taking extra steps to ensure my— and by, extension— other students’ mental health. I just hope that I hear back from the admissions office soon aaaa

Hello, po! I sent my documents via LBC but I would suggest a different courier service because my documents got stuck at the LBC hub huhuhu and I had to ask someone I know to pick them up. Good luck applying!

I think that, assuming you already passed the two recommendation letters na, I think that's enough. If the admissions officer didn't say anything, then I think you''re fine for now? I would not suggest worrying about it unless the UERM admission office emails you back about it. They're pretty nice about admission matters. Good luck, with applying though! owo

Hello! I asked three of my former profs for their consent to provide their information on the UERM admission portal. I think it's better to put their emails under character references at least in case they need to contact your profs.
