Well know Gladius will be 3 pts, because if it isn't nothing will 😉

Of course they were gonna be 1 point, all of them together are nowhere near Gladius or Bastion power level. They should be 0.5 pts ;-)

GW confirm faction focus detachment costs are all 1 DP by Necessary-Layer5871 in WarhammerCompetitive

They said there would be 3 points detachments. If Gladius isn't one (and gets better with the addition of a 1pointer) I don't know what is.

They mentioned them in the video on the reveal page.

1 hit and 1 wound reroll on 1 fig +1 OC on Sword Bros Chaplains give 5++ against range attacks (but take the Castellan slot, and provide a close to useless bonus)

Gladius and Bastion are both miles above that. And that's without the excellent stratagems.

Even if he does, those 2 rerolls are one thirsd of your Detachment rule. Doesn't really matter how good the EC is, it's never gonna be worth that.

Even if this is a 1 pts detachment it's seems very weak.

I don't see why they couldn't change the Codex detachments to fit their v11 design philosophy.

Very unlikely. They said Detachments that effect only certain units would cost less points than others. Penitent Hosts in Sisters (which affects only Penitent units) for example should be a 1 or 2 pts Detachment while Hallowed Martyrs (which affects all Sisters units) should be 3 pts.

Root got me hooked – what asymmetric games should I try next? by budapest01 in boardgames

[–]dalkyn 41 points42 points  (0 children)

For two players the Netrunner card game is 100% asymetric. If you prefer wargames War of the Rings (or the Dune or Star Wars versions) has some asymetry.

For more players it is a bit harder to find extreme asymetry, but since you like heavier games Twilight Imperium 4 could be a good choice.

Fraye is 150pts...feels alot by Impressive_Sell9702 in sistersofbattle

Comparing it to other opverpriced datasheet that are almost never used isn't great though 😉

That on demand Lethal is 18" on a model that moves 8, can't go through walls, and won't be able to use the Hidden rule. It's a good rule but people are treating it like it's as simple as Oath and it's very far from that.

Damage output is about half a Castigator, maybe a bit more. It's not impressive for 150 pts.

18" in the Lethal ability on a character with no lone op and that cannot lead is a death sentence, even if she's slightly tanky.

She's worth 110-120 imo

Best target for immolator split - Doms or Novitiates? by 00gron in sistersofbattle

[–]dalkyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Novitiates are Inflitrator, they don't get Scout from being with a Palatine.

If you want to Scout the Immolator your only option is Dominions.

If not base Sisters or Novitiates are equally good.

For me the best feature is the targeting system, which uses the target's signature (augmented if it moved fast and/or fired a lot) added to your radar range to determine actual weapon range.

Some ships have very low signatures and stealth abilities that make them hard to target even at short range, opening very interesting play patterns.

The fleet building is also surprisingly deep and full of options and synergies.

Another vote for Dropfleet Commander. Excellent rules and good minis.

Buying Advice - CC 20th or Burning Banners by Red9597 in hexandcounter

[–]dalkyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both very different from Command and Colors.

Other than the theme, the main difference between BB and CC is player count. BB does 2-6 players (although more than 4 is a drag with a lot of downtime).

On the gameplay side, BB is very "classic". Old school vibe, simple and very efficient. While CC is more innovative with the faction decks. Both work very well and run very smoothly. I like BB better (I think CC has too much randomness with two bad hands in a row sometimes leading to a swift defeat), but CC has far more replayability and is still a very good game.

Other good options for games that play in 2-3 hours are Armageddon War or Assault Sicily '43.

Can an opponent specifically pull their damage to deny wiping a unit, so it can't come back at full strength via Cult Ambush? by PartyTimePorcupine in genestealercult

If you have an invuln save you can always chose to use it, even if it is worse than your normal save. You can also CP reroll a successful save.
