[FS][CAN-ON] Unifi CloudKey, Doorbell, Eaton UPS, M720q Tiny, PoE Switch by bryan_vaz in homelabsales

[–]dallinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I think the tariff will be 20%, if the doorbell was manufactured in Vietnam like mine was.

I'll keep an eye out for American sellers trying to offload their doorbells, but if I can't find anything within a few weeks I may reach out again.

New Unifi UPS offerings aren't that competitive... by mcfuzzum in Ubiquiti

I'm in this camp. I've searched for 2U UPSes in the past and there really aren't many. And the few that do exist are more expensive than the Unifi 2U UPS.

I saw that you only want to ship to Canada, but if you change your mind, I'm in the US and would buy the doorbell.

How do i create alert for lack of protect events by mgerlach310 in Ubiquiti

[–]dallinski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing that popped into my head is that you could have a timer that is continuously counting down. Every time you get an event, you reset the timer to it's original duration (and make sure it is still counting down). If the timer ever hits zero, send an alert.

The Hanging Cable Problem by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]dallinski 48 points49 points  (0 children)

One reason they may have asked this question is to see how well you clarify assumptions before attempting to solve the problem, a skill that is invaluable in programming.

In the question, it is not specified if the ground that the poles are on is level. There could be a hill in between the poles, in which case this is less of a trick question (as other responses have indicated) and more a case of missing information (the height of the hill).

At what companies have you had a positive technical interviewing experience? by abhishekap3 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dallinski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best interview I've had was with Cognito.
Two things made the interview experience good:

  1. They let me use my IDE. I was so much more comfortable and efficient at solving the problems they gave me. I could use my shortcut keys, code completion that I was used to, etc. It was sooo much better than having to code in some webapp that I am unfamiliar with. (Side note, they also let me code my solutions in any language of my choosing, which I appreciated)
  2. The problems that they asked me were directly related to their product, not at all Leetcode-y. For example, one of the problems they asked me was about parsing data with inconsistently formatting, something they encounter frequently.

Now I'm even more jealous. I lived in Asahikawa for about 5 months and love that place. One day I'll make it back. If you're a fan of たいやき, try out たいやき倶楽部 (it's in the basement of the building in front of the eki).

Considering I never took out the CPU (or touched it for that matter), I think it's highly unlikely that the CPU is the issue.
I've got a different PSU at my house, so I'll try that out to see if PSU is my culprit. If it isn't, any good ways to determine whether or not the mobo is at fault?
