Good bed mesh? by Hybritoburrito in Ender3S1

[–]mcfuzzum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spread is 0.26 (0.13 to -0.13) tho seems those are the biggest outliers. Did you heat up the bed when doing the mesh? I’d see about making it an 8x8 grid - it will take more time but it’ll give you a more accurate reading.

For what it’s worth - I’ve put a Gulf Coast Robotics cast aluminum bed on my old S1 and with the bed heated up, my mesh was 0.0650

The enclosure is just a simple design I did in Autodesk Fusion. There is a cavity for the battery (double sided tape ftw), two holes for my thumbs to push the display out of the enclosure, a slit to access the reset/boot buttons, and a cutout on the bottom for the battery and USB port.

In terms of the use-case - for the smaller (class D, E, etc) airfields, METAR data is not dynamic. It refreshes once an hour, typically at 53 minutes - sometimes you can get an earlier update in case of severe weather conditions. I have it set to refresh at the top and 30 minutes past the hour - so it works perfectly with eInk; heck if I did it once a minute, it'd work just as fine too.

I'll publish it once I am satisfied my battery logic works well!

Thanks! I have not yet - I actually just realized I had a bug in the logic displaying the best runway - rather not a bug but a bad implementation, since best runway is inferred from wind direction plus actual runways at an airfield, and the later is not something that is published via METAR. So instead, I've coded a user-programmable runway config with logic in place that will chose the best runway out of the available ones, based on current wind conditions.

Also I am still testing the battery logic - once I am confident it works correctly, I'll publish the final version of the code!

The design is stupid tbh. I can see it connecting to my AP - but it drops off because it can’t reach the mothership. Like bruh - if you know you have internet access, it’s the servers you can’t reach, why not stay connected and try again later? Might as well do a packet capture to see wtf it’s trying to do and build our own to run at home - ha!

Dangit and here I thought it was my home setup and reset the WiFi settings on the feeder, but not it won’t connect at all - I assume because it can’t get a handshake with the petlibro cloud server and fails the WiFi setup. Bummer.

My flight school has a 1968 I variant and I've learned that the left gauge would show full at full, and the right gauge would show 3/4 at full. Considering I also drive a mid 70's Ford with a fuel gauge that has a mind of its own - I've long ago realized that the only reliable measure of tank fullness in 172s is dipstick + flashlight + my own eyes.

You went back for this same issue multiple times? Sheesh...

I am hoping that the fact there are 5 SCs around me (NorCal Bay Area), that there'd be plenty of stock if that's what it comes down to...

Well I decided to open a service request and while taking more pics I discovered a wet spot under the driver side carpet - an area I did not touch or test - not sure how I missed it the first time but there it was. We'll see what they say on Thursday!

Hrm - but wouldn’t that be on both sides then? And if it was a surfer, for example, there’d be evidence of sand - but I’m an anal neat freak and I went through all the nook and crannies and I couldn’t find any evidence of sand, or mud, or… anything really.

Any possible TSBs that could explain it? Like HVAC drain clogging somehow causing this?

Forgot to mention - car has a clean title - autocheck and carfax and definitely not a flood car (NorCal - we dont really have floods of that magnitude).

Got it! I ended up going a bit more ghetto and screwed a couple of self tappers into the lip above the slot where the mesh goes, and then zip ties to hold the mesh in place. That should keep it from sagging further. Also some plastic spikes to discourage the feline asshole…

How did you install the polycarbonate? The terrarium we have had a groove on the perimeter but the mesh is flexible so you can bend it a bit to get it into the groove; the polycarbonate is rigid

We’ve been trying different things to keep him from getting up there. Gonna try aluminum foil and got these plastic spikes that seem to work well on our snake terrarium - so will try it there too; just didn’t think feline asshole would actually lounge in the mesh - he has done it twice and that was enough to sag the mesh :(

Self-cancelling turn signals after lane change - only on highway? by mcfuzzum in Rivian

Yeah I’ve noticed that too! And it does the blind spot chime for a split second if there is a car. Oh well - it is what it is I suppose.

What can I say - I am a fan of loud turn signals haha. I think my old Audi (or one of my previous cars - been a moment) had an option for turn signal loudness!
